Wait. What? Why is this on a BD-66 and not BD-100?

Getting me that Steelbook.

Disney has never done a BD-100.

gorgeous artwork on the Steelbook!...even though it won't be a 4K showcase, I still plan on getting this disc because I love the movie

I hope you're right! As someone else posted, maybe we'll get Home Alone 2 in 4K before the end of the year. As far as we know Disney hasn't done any 4K restorations on any Fox titles since taking over. HA2 was started by the old Fox team and then finished off by Disney. Here's to "future wrongness".

Nothing about a physical release yet. And with all the IMAX scenes, it will likely appear on Disney+ before a physical disc is released.
But, but, Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits has it on his coming soon list...because he saw it on GeekGab / TheDickFather's twitter...so it just be true, right? The internet is always right.

So we may get TWO live action catalogue UHDs from Disnee this year? Woah there, slow down, they’ll give themselves a nosebleed.

Tell that to the 3D IMAX release
The film was simultaneously presented in IMAX 3D format, opening in 178 theaters in the United States on December 18. The international IMAX release included 58 theaters beginning on December 16, and 25 more theaters were to be added in the coming weeks.[172] The IMAX release was the company's widest to date, a total of 261 theaters worldwide. The previous IMAX record opening was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which opened in 161 IMAX theaters in the US, and about 70 international.[173] 20th Century Fox Korea adapted and later released Avatar in 4D version, which included "moving seats, smells of explosives, sprinkling water, laser lights and wind"

No, that's what I was originally posting. I'm happy for 'Heat' but this is Disney's first like action catalog title in 4K all year. It's really sad. I thought Disney was about filling all possible revenue streams? Fingers crossed they offload some Fox/Touchstone titles to Kino, Shout, Arrow or Criterion.

It was released in IMAX like hundreds of other movies have been but it wasn’t shot in IMAX so there’s literally nothing exclusive about it. It’s in 1.78 on all forms of home media so no, it won’t get released on D+ first becuz IMAX. I wouldn’t be surprised if it debuted on that platform, but that’s because most 4K remasters tend to appear on streaming/digital first nowadays.

I have very little faith in the majors doing anything with their properties anymore. Other than Paramount, none really seem to care...and even Paramount aren't doing much with 4k

They released Pirates of the Caribbean in January (not that it makes things better).

I do expect Avatar to be released around the time the sequel comes out in theaters, but if it doesn't happen it will be because of Cameron, not because of Disney.

Avatar 4K makes sense for November/December...there's going to be a huge marketing blitz for Avatar 2...there's even an Avatar video game coming out in late 2022...

Seriously, stick with the previous bluray by Warner. The difinitive director's edition isn't worth buying, let alone tracking down.

So this 4K will be from the same restoration as the 2017 Blu-ray? I thought that release looked to dark.
