Just to clarify: the issue on Xbox One and Xbox Series X is that there are no offline profiles. That means that after Microsoft ends support if someone deletes their profile (which is linked to their personal e-mail address) before selling the system or if someone deletes someone else's profile after they buy the system they will be unable to make another one.

Deleting profiles with personal information on them before transfer of ownership is a perfectly logical thing to do but in this case it will turn the console into a brick. No one should be able to break their console by doing something logical.

It also means that even if you are careful if you happen to buy a system that only has one profile on it you will be unable to play local multiplayer. There are also some games that tie progress to your profile instead of just save files. You won't be able to restart those games if you can't make another profile.

If it was just a one-time firmware update that couldn't be undone I wouldn't have a problem with it but the online requirement with Xbox One and Xbox Series X is much more severe.
