I'll say something you probably don't want to hear, unfortunately.

I bought a cheap $150 Panasonic UHD player and returned it almost immediately. It was flimsy junk, without all the hookups in the back I needed. I ended up getting the 820, which seems to be the most popular remaining player (a number of models and brands have been removed from the market, which is VERY small). It's usually about $400-$500, depending on sales. Also, you'll probably have to buy the player online, very few retailers have them in-store, they're such a niche item.

Also, I'll say something else...

I tried hooking the 4K Blu-Ray player up to my old 1080p HD TV, and wasn't all that happy with the image. I then bought a cheap 4K TV, around $700. I wasn't happy with the image on that either, among other problems, it had some motion smoothing baked into it (as most cheap 4K TVs do, in my experience). I did more research, asking friends who worked in motion picture post-production which TV would be best solely as a monitor for watching movies (I don't play video games or watch sports) and bought a nice LG OLED. It cost $1200, but it's some of the best money I've ever spent in my life.

The Man Who Knew Too Much, from the Hitchcock UHD sets, is one of my favorite films ever made, and it's an absolute REVELATION in the new restoration, on a good 4K TV.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer, but I'm just saying, I don't think going the cheap route to enter 4K will necessarily make you happy.

It's not like it used to be with TVs, where the only difference in price is size.

With 4K, there's a MASSIVE difference in image quality, based on spending more on your TV and your player.

James. How are you? So I just finally got a 4K player. Got all the 4K Hitchcock sets back in March though. I think I should have listened to you better as I am having some issues. I already had my TV, a 4K Samsung Tizen...an 85 inch which I got for a grand 2 Black Fridays ago but I didn't take your advice with a 4k unit, I went for a cheap $170 LG 4K player. I just was reading back your post from March when you were advising me and I see you mentioned motion smoothing issues too. That's what I am having too.

I posted in the LG players and 4K noob threads the situation in length. Would you mind taking a look at the post and tell me your thoughts as it seems like you have been in a similar situation before. Thanks in advance!

Was coming here to ask the exact same thing. I only noticed one. Where the captain is either sitting up or down (don't recall which exactly) by the tree in the woods about the same time you mentioned.

I don't recall seeing it before but I've only owned the DVD. I didn't notice any other jumps but this one stood out. Split second, really, but noticeable.

Edited to add: I was watching the 4k so it was there too
