If you want, use black spray paint for the white foam or cover them with carpet. You can start a riser business and sell them on the Internet.

if it wasnt for u BD. Godfather of Audio. i can def hear the difference in the sub now. i might add polyfill in the sub. will it make it better and should i do it to the rest of the speakers?

Since your quite the handyman with the woodwork...and I don't have the tools...you want to build me a riser for my dt supercube 2 sub Brent?

In most cases, polyfill helps subwoofers and speakers, but do not over stuff them. The benefits of adding polyfill are explaind in the middle of post #2 in the DIY Subwoofer Making & Upgrading.

Haha...i'm just messin. I can build one myself. Just giving you credit for all the hardwork you have done. I actually have quite a lot of tools to build things myself if I ever get ambition to do so.

Got the sub. Posted a few pics...the dslr pics are coming this week. A riser unlike any other....I said I could make one....didn't say I could build one that was unlike any other. I'll see what I want to do on a sub riser....I don't fee like making one anytime soon.

just finished a pair of risers for my a2-300's, see pics in gallery sub riser folder. each riser has 9" legs with 2x7/16" cdx sheets and a 3/4" acoustic ceiling tile sandwiched between them add 1/2" carpet foam under a rubber back carpet top and you have 12.5 inches of riser. i'm no carpenter as you can see, but they are extremely stable. under the very thin side covering is stuffed with fiberglass insulation. trick was to use only items from garage as materials (no purchases allowed )

Congratulations. It looks good.

I can't tell the position of the subs with the risers. It appears that they may be too close to the wall and they may not be in exactly the best spot. Please post a new picture that shows the position of the subs with respect to the room walls and other speakers. I may be able to help you get better performance from your subwoofers.

yes they are close to wall, only out of necessity, room is only 12.5 feet wide. they are exactly at mid-point of the opposing side walls, the riser is built to be at the height where if you would shrink the wall height by 25% you would be there. these positions were gleaned from the white paper about multiple sub placements. i would use the front and back wall mid points but the tv, projector screen and center channel all get in the way. this placement works quite well as i used to employ a BFD and used REW to calibrate. after using this placement i no longer needed the BFD as Audyssey does just as good a job of EQ'ing with or with out the BFD in the mix. i have tried both pre-Audyssey and post-Audyssey testing with the BFD and the graphs were pretty much identical, so i removed the BFD....

Middle of the side walls is a perfect position. Just move them a few inches up to a foot away from the walls. You don't want them to excite the room modes associated with that location too much and become one note subwoofers.

you have gotten me thinking again i can move the subs out from the wall, i currently have 21 inches of walkway space between the sub and the couch, so if i move the sub next to the couch i add 21 inches to the 2 inches existing between the sub and wall and now i would have a 23 inch walkway. on the other side i can at most get it 14 inches from the wall. this would not be completely equidistant from walls, however if you shrink the room width by 25% the virtual walls would be almost 19 inches in from the existing walls 19"x2=38", 14"+23"=37". seems to me that this might work.....

I'm seriously thinking about moving that 15" sub into my bedroom, purchasing extra surround speakers so I can wire them together to make six surround speakers, and purchasing some older style high power amplifiers for my subwoofers. I hope you're happy. Or maybe I should simply just add you to my ignore list...

A/V equipment are highly addictive I am the pusher and you are the addict. The sad part is that I am an addict myself. I wish I could get a percentage by audio/video manufacturers even when people buy used equipment.

I think I may have to try out the subwoofer first. Then, if that works, I'll look into getting another deal on matching surrounds. Then, amplification time. If I'm still wanting more, then maybe some transducers will top it all off. If not, maybe a subwoofer equalizer. If not, more acoustic treatments. If not, a newer projector. If not, ...
