Ha, I agree. So I tried to do that myself about 2 hours ago. However, my versions on my Apple TV are still the old versions. But if I look at it on my phone or iPad...they say 4K Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos. So I am assuming they have not yet upgraded for everyone on every "platform". Additionally, something weird is going on with the new streams as they crashed my HDMI in my pre/pro. I had to reboot my whole home theater.

Yep, mine is playing 2160P SDR. Yet, on the Apple TV it's listed in the 4K HDR section. JPIII is playing HDR10 as is The Lost World. I'm so confused. LOL.

Unless you have two equal displays sitting next to each other, this can be tricky if you're looking at more subtle differences. In my case it also takes some time to switch between sources due to HDMI handshakes between player<->AVR<->display, so it's not like I can rapidly switch back and forth.

The real problem is that taking lossless screenshots from streaming sources is not so easy due to the DRM ...

Not to mention it needs it desperately for the hill valley scene that simply isn't in 4k, as its clearly a lower resolution. Plus it would be nice if they fixed it for issues with the HDR and DV layer as it has some issues like Jaws does in the instance of ghosting on the DV layer among other things.

If it's anything like the full screen DVD (remember those days?), it'll be more openish matte for most shots and pan & scan for the VFX shots as they were only rendered and composited for the 1.85:1 frame.

It will be interesting to imagine a IMAX version of JP with live action shots in 4:3 and VFX shots in 1.85:1. It will be a wierd presentation compared to modern IMAX movies.

I've just checked my itunes again on apple tv 4k. JP has switched back to HD only from DV/DA.

It's not perfect, but it's not complicated. I've done this a number of times over the years with different versions of discs (old vs remastered) with two different players going through my AVR. Maybe 2-3 seconds of sync delay through my AVR. It's brief enough especially going back and forth on the same frame just to see if there is a sense of different color, for example. I won't be able to get to it tonight, but maybe tomorrow I'm just going to rent it on iTunes to compare myself.

I’m not sure my Iphone would really get it across properly. But the scenes I really noticed the difference was the early intro scene of Grant and Sadler in the Montana Badlands and the night scenes with the T-Rex and Nedry getting stuck and trying to pull his jeep back onto the road.
Other scenes looked pretty similar to me, like some of the indoor scenes and the outdoor first reveal of the dinosaurs (“they do move in herds”).

I can say that just from what I briefly sampled, I’d watch the ITunes stream now over my disc copy. Better color grade trumps better compression in my book.

If it was a new scan or the unfudged existing one, people would be like "yup, they did it" not "I think I see a difference". I mean, it should be immediately apparent, so I'll take these early impressions as "it's the same shit but with a Dolby Vision logo slapped on".
