I wanted to be here on this site as the game starts but I have a Mechanics Review class tonite and wont finish until about ten so I hope everyone gets to see excellent baseball played at its finest, as only The World Series could be.

I hate the Yankees but I'm actually cheering for CC... hes from the bay area, well close to it.. Vallejo which is like a 30 min drive from where i live...

I hate them too but I love me some Jeter (the person not the yankee

Great story on Phil Coke and those kinds of stories don't come out of the yanks enough A-rod buying him suits cause he makes so little. Nice.

As much as I like Swisher, if he doesn't come through tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if Girardi benches him for a few games. Damon was struggling too but he finally came through. It's up to Girardi to decide.

I really don't worry about damon he's been in the show and knows when he needs to be clutch and can deliver, where swisher hasn't been this far and might not be able to come through

I just hope so!

but considering where he hangs out and who he's with he's way out of his league.

I don't think thats his take home either + agents cut and taxes I'm sure he only makes around 300(that might be an overstatement maybe like 200-250), I don't know enough about NY tax law.

Taxes for athletes can be a mess, because most states consider playing a game in their state as earning income in their state. So not only does a guy like Coke have to pay taxes in NY, he also has to pay them in CA, MA, IL, etc. Overall it's still the same total amount of taxes being paid (ignoring differences in state income tax rates), but it's quite a hassle with all the filings.

But even so, I think most people on these forums would gladly accept Coke's salary, even with all the strings attached (agents cut, multiple state tax filings, etc).
