This looks like a happy place for a couple of questions, since I know folks here will give me honest advice....

SWMBO advised today that our son should have a 360 for his BD. Apparently the PS3, Wii and old-style Xbox are not enough and it's vital that he play Halo 3. I've temporarily stalled her with facts and data about the huge Xbox failure rates.
  • Has MS fixed the root cause of the failures in recent models, such that I may now purchase a 360 with reasonable expectation that it will work reliably?
  • To what extent should I expect his legacy Xbox games to play on the 360?
