Default Samsung’s B1200 new firmware will fix BD+ issues and improve aother features

OCT. 10 | Starting this Friday, Samsung owners will be able to upgrade players to increase functionality, including enhanced playability of advanced copyright protection technology BD+.

The firmware will be offered for Samsung’s first- and second-generation models, the BD-P1000 and BD-P1200, respectively. For both models, BD+ will be fully playable.

In recent days, there have been a number of Samsung consumer complaints about playback hiccups on 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Blu-ray Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, one of the first batch of titles to feature BD+.

“This firmware update will resolve freezing issues experienced when viewing Fox titles and their BD+ features,” Samsung said in a statement.

Additionally, the firmware for Samsung’s B1200 will fix audio noise and improve overall playback compatibility on certain movies. It also will upgrade in-movie game performance.

Users can download or burn to disc the firmware from the manufacturer’s Web site. BD-P1200 owners have the option to also access the update via the player’s Ethernet connection
