Those are movies that I will be watching and re-watching too. But I am a full time student and part time worker. I pick up movies like 'Trek' that I've seen 5 times a film. I may not watch it right away but I pick it up at release when its on sale. Same with lots of others on the list. I hate blind buying. I tend to regret it. I buy things I've seen and liked. Tv shows are the exception. I will buy a show if I've seen an episode or two and liked it then have the rest for DVD viewing. Have to know I like the program though.

The idea to me behind having a large collection is that there will be things sitting there that I at least haven't seen in a long time, and should the time arise where I want to watch a movie alone, with family, or with friends, I have multiple options open. Doesn't mean I think I threw my money away or don't value the purchases. Take 'Braveheart' or 'Godfathers II' and 'III'. You have to be in a certain head space to watch those. So I haven't yet. Opportunity with family did not arise. But it has for the Bourne trilogy (watch it Christmas weekend, the last two in one sitting), and Up, etc... I'm just waiting for the right time and the right film to fit a given moment and I have plenty of options.
