I figured it was coming this year for the 50th anniversary. Glad to see it was finally announced. Now bring on Vertigo and Rear Window!

The one thing I noticed is that the blu is "Rated R", R's did not start until 1968. It must be a re-rating or something.

As much as I would like to wait for some sort of box set that includes multiple Hitchcock films........ I know I won't be able to wait!

Midnight Cowboy was rated "R" when released on DVD, so I'm assuming they do "re-ratings" when something is presented on a new format (depending on how long since the last rating perhaps) .... could be wrong though.

Yep, Bonnie & Clyde too, the original DVD from 1997 was NOT RATED, the blu from 2008 is now an "R".

The film had a theatrical re-release in 1969, so that may be why it now carries the R-rating.

I was wrong (according to Wikipedia at least) about how Midnight Cowboy received it's re-rating...

Quote:
In addition, it was the first X rated movie to win the Oscar: later, certain parts of the film were edited and it received an R rating, followed by the MPAA deciding to let the complete original print stay as is: the R rating for this film remains to this day.
Oh well..... at least there isn't an uncut version I've been missing all these years

Back to Psycho...... 'yep' buying this one as soon as it's under $20 (hopefully upon release )

This is the best news I've heard in awhile. I cannot wait!!! Day 1 for me.

Now where are the rest of the hitchcock films? Dial M for Murder!, Strangers on a train, Rear Window, Vertigo, The Birds, Notorious and Shadow of a doubt.

Forgot about Frenzy. That has to have one of the most disturbing murder sequences when he strangles that woman.

Hopefully Universal will give us a good release of Psycho the first time around. I know they like to double dip this title like crazy, but please, let the PQ and AQ be spectacular the first time around.

I never picked this up on DVD, but since I'm a huge fan I'm really happy this was announced so soon. I was considering picking up the 2-disc Legacy Edition for 15 bucks, but now I don't have to!

I'm sure it will look great. I plan on buying this the first day to show my support. Hopefully this will pave the way for the Universal Monsters on BD next year.

I am all about a PSYCHO and of course VERTIGO to be released but I think The Trouble with Harry would look really great in HD also.

Hoping for the cover art they move away from those cover art pieces that state a collection etc.. They should use really good artwork, not making them all look like the Hitchcock series covers, very cookie cutter. Each film should be given it's own personality for their cover art.

I agree with PowellPressburger, The Trouble with Harry would look stunning on blu, especially those opening scenes.

The features mirror the 2-disc Legacy Series DVD. I kinda hope they use that cover as well. I think it looks slick.

It would clash with the Blu stripe...maybe they will.
