Hey,

See where it says "2-Disc Set" on the keepcase of the old version? It doesn't say "2-Disc Set" on the keep case of the new version. Some of the slip covers of the old version said "2-Disc Set" and some of the slip covers of the old version did not say "2-Disc Set" so don't go by the slip case.

Another clue is the rebate offer sticker... If it's missing that's a good clue it's more likely the new version.

So excited! FedEx just dropped off the disc a few minutes ago. I skimmed through a few scenes of the Blu and they look stunning! I noticed the lack of disappearing arrows in the opening battle and the gladiator battles look amazing. I can't wait to sit down and watch the film in its entirety. Paramount did a great job at making this look a whole lot better than it originally did.

Maybe this has already been mentioned but the actual discs of the new release have a dull light gray finish to them whereas the original release had a more metallic silver finish.

New version looks amazing!

I for one have paid retailers a boat load of money for their products and services and THIS service is just one of those things that are built into the price of these goods. They get credit for the product you return/exchange so there is no loss to anyone.

Is it possible that some of you are a little upset that you had to wait for mailing instead of just going to a retailer and you did not think of it?
You: "My disk is defective and I want to exhange it."
BB: "What's wrong with it?"
You: It has DNR, EE and missing arrows."
BB: "Can I see the disc?"
-He looks at the disk and sees that it has scratches on the surface and finger prints all over it.

BB: "I see the problem. You mishandled the disk and it's effecting the picture playback."
You: "No, that has nothing to do with it. The movie was mastered improperly and now they have a new version."
BB: "Sorry, but you have physically damaged the disk and we can not replace damaged disks."

<public service announcement>

THE MOVIE/DISK was NOT RECALLED. There is just a new exchange program for those who want a DNR/EE free version.

You both need to read the thread from the beginning. All of these questions have already been answered and covered.

Once more time for the lazy:

1. No recall. Retailers can sell through the old inventory as they wish.

2. Check the back. If 2-Disc Set is missing from both the slipcover and the case art above the Paramount logo, it's the 4k remastered version.

Eventually all future inventory will have a yellow UPC to denote the 4k remastered release. There is no ETA on this packaging change so if you want to buy online, you are taking the chance of getting the DNR/EE version.

Received my replacement copy about an hour ago here in NJ. Sent the disc out 3 weeks ago (8/02). Thanks to Paramount for handling this relatively painlessly. It took nearly a year, but up until a month or two ago, everyone was convinced Paramount would pull a double dip on us.

FedEx just delivered my replacement copy (Chicago)! I never got around to watching the other version, so I'll pretend like it never existed.

Took my disc to the local post office more than 10 minutes ago and the replacement copy has not shown up here yet.

I will keep updating.

Based on the updates thus far and the fedex transit time map, I should get mine in Maine tomorrow.

I happen to be getting my SXRD optical block replaced for free tomorrow, too!

For those who received theirs...was it delivered by the FedEx Ground truck (purple and green) or the regular orange and purple truck?

going to mail my copy out this week, I wish I could just drive there to exchange it since I live like 30 minutes away from where I am sending it to.

Also should I mail the replacement disc using stamps & envelopes? or through FedEx, USPS etc?
