Hi,
I just saw this thread (been away all summer) and didn't realize the new version was out and there was an exchange program and so on. I have the old version and I've never bothered to watch it but it is open because I sent in the proof of purchase tab for a rebate (which they denied and I'm pissed off for that because I taped the pops to the form and everything.) Anyways,... I an intriqued by people saying Best Buy let them exchange it. I think my Best Buy would not let me do that. How do I find out if they would ... just take it there and ask?? I bought mine on Black Friday maybe last year. -Brian Edit - Grrrr... They let me exchange it and the exchage copy didn't say "2-Disc Set" on the slip cover but once I opened it up it did say "2- Disc set" on the keepcase and it is still the old version.... I guess it's going to get mailed now. My old copy did have "2-Disc Set" on both the slip cover and keepcase, what a pain. I have never even bothered to watch my Blu Ray copy yet since I heard it was all goofed up. Last edited by bhampton; 08-22-2010 at 07:41 PM. |

My silly update:
Went to BB and exchanged old for old, today went to Walmart and took my new old one and exchanged it for the RIGHT one. I opened it there ( it did not have the "2 disc" above the Paramount logo) then on the inner ring the end of the number sequence was R2...woo hoo! He shoots! He scores!! |

The only officially sanctioned replacement program is directly through Deluxe Media Management for Paramount Home Entertainment. The DNR/EE release has not been recalled and retailers are not obligated to replace old inventory with new inventory. Retailers are free to sell through the inventory currently have and replenishment stock will be the 4k remastered version. It is strictly Your Milleage May Vary/Your Results May Vary when exchanging in-store. You can attempt to call local retailers but until the yellow UPC inventory appears, 99.9% of the employees and managers will not have a clue about the 4k remastered release. Please read my post again...

Also, sadly, the original release is not defective. Rather the original release has DNR/EE applied to it and was from an older master. Universal and Scott Free worked together to produce a new 4k master. |

What did you say when you went to exchange it? Did they hassle you about having the Proof of purchase tab cut out? I did the same as you for the mail-in rebate. I'm debating whether to mail it in (I live close to Valencia) or just try my luck at Burbank or Glendale B&M and save the agony of waiting for the replacement copy. |

Yeah,
I bought mine on the same black friday but I skipped Braveheart. They didn't care or didn't notice the POP thing. I can't remember the negotiation as I had to haggle with the CS and Manager. I'm happy to do it the hard way and mail it in now, I never bothered to watch the "defective" copy. Although I did the rebate thing right and they denied it (bastards) so I don't really trust them. There's also a chance your copy just gets "lost" along the way and you just have to buy it all over again. So,... I think going to the store is a good option at least for a try. =Brian Edit - All things considered, I'm glad they "fixed" it and glad they have a option for people that bought the old version. Very glad about both of those. Last edited by bhampton; 08-23-2010 at 10:36 AM. |

So if I was going to go to Best Buy this weekend to get this Blu, will it definately be the new version or would I have to check? Were the old Bluys recalled? How can I tell the difference?

I for one have paid retailers a boat load of money for their products and services and THIS service is just one of those things that are built into the price of these goods. They get credit for the product you return/exchange so there is no loss to anyone. Is it possible that some of you are a little upset that you had to wait for mailing instead of just going to a retailer and you did not think of it? |
