This is a touchy subject with me.

It really pisses me off when men empower women so much. It's entirely our faults when it happens too.

I blame several factors for this.

1) A generation of men raised by women. It is fairly customary for in a broken home the child goes to live with his mother. When this happens it fairly obvious what happens. Mom is viewed as the figure of power and authority, woman are then seen as the "Boss". (First thing to fix, try and make your relationship work!!!)

2) Raised in a family where dad was hands off. Mom took lil Johnny to baseball practice, mom spent all the time with Johnny etc. The relationship with Dad isn't present. Common in military households or homes where the dad is away on business frequently or just totally consumed by his work.
(Quick fix, men spend time with your sons)

3) When the Man isn't bringing much to the table and knows it.
For example,

a)She's the better looking of the two ("Why are you with him")

b)She is the bread winner, makes more money etc.
(Guy doesn't wanna screw this up-Lacks confidence in himself)

c) The guy has made some mistakes in the past, and lost her, got her back and is now basically totally submissive to her every want/need out of fear of the loss again.

(Men, be about something....don't be a loser then leach off someone, you degrade yourself)

Unfortunately I have many Friends that are in these very situations, more than I am proud to admit. I of all my friends is IMO the one who does not fit these profiles and it irks me to no end to see them living their lives in a fashion where they are basically puppets to their puppet master.

A relationship is a 50/50 thing, and I expect my sig other to not only contribute in areas such as work, chores etc but also be willing to accept and respect my decisions be it, purchases I make etc. I have told my GF several times when she is upset at a purchase I have made, or am preparing to make that I would never put her or our son in a financial predicament. I usually let her know if I am planning on making a purchase over $150 out of respect, and she asks me as well.

I am the treasurer in our home, and I pay the bills etc. I think for man's sanity and womans, that the man in a relationship take charge of the funds.

PS, how the F*&^ would any man go into a place and not be embaressed to tell the clerk my wife made me take it back. I would make up anything but that. That's like saying yeah my balls are in her purse, I am a total Milque Toast.

Guys, take charge...stop being sprung ass whimps...take a Ward Cleaver approach on your relationships!
