I find it so ironic that everyone is saying they like the WM Blu-ray bannered version better. Usually people are complaining about how those banners detract from the cover art. Personally, I'll probably get the WM exclusive if I'm in New Orleans in December when it comes out, mainly for the added DVD. If I'm home, in LA, where there are almost no WMs to be found, it's most likely whatever BB has...

Saw the movie trailer and knew it was going to be quite promising but never had the chance to catch it in the cinema. Got the original 5-movie collectors set and it just wouldn't seem right not to add this "orphan" to its cousins. Add Rise of the Planet of the Apes to my collection, too.

Plus, it will have the DVD included. I'm definitely getting the Walmart exclusive.

It's not so much the banner. Like you, I want the WM exclusive for the added DVD. I can get some use out of it.

The Amazon page still mentions Rise of the Planet of the Apes (Two-Disc Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (2011)

Can't it be that the only exclusive thing to Wal-Mart's edition is the Vudu inclusion?

That too, but I was thinking that maybe the cover posted on Amazon isn't the final one, maybe missing a final touch up. Fox Blu-ray movies, while missing the blue banner, usually have a Blu-ray logo like that one seen on Predators (2010). The one on Amazon doesn't have a Blu-ray logo on the front of the slip. I haven't picked up new Fox movie this year so I'm not sure if this has changed.

Not to take away from the film - I think it was damn near brilliant - but you know its an extremely weak year at the movies when one of the best films released through 10 whole months is a Planet of the Apes prequel. This one looked like a late summer write-off from the initial previews, and instead it emerged as what I think could possibly get a Best Picture nomination.
