Audio Problem

OKay so I have an optical cable hooked from my ps3 to my receiver and there is a problem that annoys me. Whenever I go to turn on the receiver and when a video is in the process of playing there is about a second of silence then there is like static pop and then the audio starts playing. Once the audio starts playing there is no problem but the static pop happens everytime there is a time period of no audio and when the audio goes back on it pops, anyway to fix this?
