Default Just ordered my Onkyo 605...now a setup question

First I wanted to thank you all for everything I have learned lurking in this forum for the past 2 months...this place is great, and I have already learned a ton!

I just ordered an Onkyo 605 for use in my soon to be setup home theater and want to make sure I have all of the requisite cables when it actually comes time to set everything up. I know I have seen this discussed before but couldn't find it so easily when I searched the forum.

I plan on watching all of my DVDs/BDs in 5.1 using the Onkyo, and will probably watch 25-50% (sports, HBO movies, etc...) of TV programming in 5.1 also...the remaining 50-75% (run of the mill sitcoms, home improvement shows, etc...) I will be listening through the TV speakers. So my question is what is the easiest way to set this up?

I was planning on the following:

HD DirecTV receiver ---> HDMI ---> HDTV (for audio through TV speakers)
HDTV ---> optical audio ---> Onkyo 605 (enables TV shows thru Onkyo)
DVD/BD ---> HDMI ---> Onkyo 605 ----> HDMI ---> HDTV

I did it this way because I thought the following would mean I would have to have the Onkyo receiver "ON" even if I was listening through the TV speakers:

DirecTV ---> HDMI ---> Onkyo ---> HDMI ---> HDTV

Is that right?

Does my plan seem OK and do you think it will work for my watching/listening preferences? Thanks again for you help!

HD
