Default Help a newb out with his new TV

Hey guys, I'm still fairly new to the whole HD scene. I read it's important to get your TV calibrated for the best picture, and helping your TV last a lot longer. I went out and bought the 52" Samsung LN52A750, I wont be recieving it until next Tuesday but I want to get a jump start on getting things for the TV. Is their any certain discs you recommend for getting the TV set calibrated, or is their a service I can call to have them do it, or is this something that doesn't even has to be professionally done? Also a good source to find HDMI cables? I know that I don't need to buy the $100+ ones, I made that mistake with my first TV. Lastly how about a good surge protector? Anything else I may need let me know. I'm also buying a PS3 the following weekend, already have a wish list going for my BD's at Amazon . Thank for any help, this is a good site to learn from.
