Blockbuster where I live has a 42" Sony Breva LCD on display playing Blu-Ray and it looks amazing. I drool everytime I look at it. Basically I know what kind of picture to expect out of the LCDs but don't have any experience with DLP. The place where I will buy it had it playing soap operas and it looked nice. Just curious about the Blu-Rays and also sports with Dish Network. Don't have the HD programming yet. Thanks for any help!!
I suggest LCD over DLP. Many will say that DLP looks just as good. But, LCD takes up less room and just looks so much sleeker as a unit. LCD is becoming the industry standard and DLP is already getting very near the "outdated technology" state. Since Laser and OLED TVs are just around the corner, it would be better for you to "keep up with the Jones'" and get something that will be supported longer... LCD.

Just my opinion though, and plenty will refute me on this.

EDIT: OH YEAH!!! Nothing under 42" 1080p or you are, once again, looking at "outdated technology" as well.

Default Have a look

Look on the other side of the fence.......Plasma Full HD, I own a Panasonic FullHD Viera 800 series, absolutely loooooooove it, great inky blacks and excellent reange of colours, price wise you get more real estate for you buck, with the new generations of panel the screen burn is almost a thing of the past, as for screen size no less than 42", each type of panel either LCD or Plasma have their pros and cons, howerver personally i will never go back to LCD. Happy viewing either way.

I also love the 800s... I'm thinking I might sell my 32 inch LCD (see if i can get $700 for it) and upgrade to the 42 inch 800 as well

I have an LCD 52" that I bought in late 2007 as for my next tv it won't be for many years and by then I hope OLED screens will have achieved maturity.

samsung LN46A650 46" or LN52A650 52" 1080p, 120Hz, 50,000:1, contrast, 4ms response, 4 HDMI. I had a 47" 1080p westinghouse (one of the first 1080p LCD's out). it's like night and day. like going from standard to HD all over again. plus dont you have to replace the bulbs every 2-3 years.

I have a 50" Panasonic Plasma thats 720p and I have to say I love it. That said, the 46" Sony XBR4 is breathtaking. If your budget can take it I highly recommend it.
