i am buying my first Hdtv and would like to see hear your recommendations.

i can buy from best buy and future shop. i can not go over $3000 and would like a 46inch or larger tv. i will be using my ps3 as my blu ray player.

so can you please help me chose a tv.

the tv will be used mostly for watching digtal cable and watching dvd/bluray movies. Also a fairbit of gaming on the ps3.

Panasonic or pioneer plasma!! For 3k you can get a bad ass tv. In the next month I'm going to buy a panasonic v10 plasma. A 50in is 2k they have 54in and not sure if there out yet but 58in and 65in. The 58in should be right at 3k

This was listed in the LCD section of the forum and you are talking "plasma", shame on you.

arsh231 really wants an LCD which is a Samsung and I happened to pick up a 55" B8000 for 3099.00. Perfect!

Look to Sony. You will pay a bit more for the brand name, but you can bank on the quality! I recommend the W3000 series if they still sell them. Otherwise, their XBR series kick some serious toosh as well.

Either will be great. The only reason I chose a Samsung over the Sony is because of width. I had a spot that took a 52" wide TV ONLY. The Sony was too wide, near 53" but the Samsung UN55B series was perfect and it also happened to be a great TV

I can only make a personal opinion from what I like. I bought my tv 2 years ago, but I enjoy keeping up on the technology. I agree with some of the other members about Sony or Samsung. I saw a Samsung LN52B750 it is a killer deal at Bestbuy. When I looked the other day, it was like 1999.99. This had 240 hz and all the bells and whistles. This is what I would buy today. This would also give you extra money if you need to replace or purchase any of the audio components for your system.

I've had nothing but love for my sony 40xbr2. I even liked it so much that when I found an OB 46" model, I bought it for my parents. When the time comes for me to get a new one, it will either be another xbr series or, if i decide to go the plasma route, a panasonic.

Thumbs up

Take a look at these TV's:

Sony KDL-46XBR9 - $1,999.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218073534751

Sony KDL-52XBR9 - $2,499.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218073533286

Samsung UN46B6000 - $2,099.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218065985439

Samsung UN46B7000 - $2,299.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218064150665

Since you only want LCD, these are the best TV's I could find for $2400 or under from Best Buy. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these TV's. In my opinion if I had to choose between any of these TV's, it would have to be between the Sony XBR9 or Samsung B7000.
