I wonder what I'd want from a Spider-Man film. Because I've only ever read Spider-Man runs (and not the crossover arcs) or watched the cartoons and so I can't really imagine how the MCU would deal with him any differently than Raimi or Webb did who both stuck closely to the Spider-Man I already knew in their own way.

Here's an idea: why not do both? Everyone on the internet seems to be having this same black/white Peter Parker/Miles Morales argument... lets just have both characters. Big team scene in Avengers HQ, everybody there to meet the new guy, Spider-man. He's hanging upside down on a wall, clearly, obviously Spider-man... and then Spider-man swings by a window. Cap or Iron Man asks him if he'd care to explain and he shrugs it off with "Dude, there's two of us".

Simple, no?

They should just have a white Peter Parker, then when that actor get too old, decides not to come back or whatever, introduce a black actor as Miles Morales to take the mantle of Spider-Man. Same principle as what I'm guessing they're gonna do with Captain America and Bucky Barnes. Pretty straight forward.

Old Man Peter Parker with teenage Miles Morales, Spider-Man Beyond? Can Nine Inch Nails do the theme song again?

We both thought he'd be a good choice. I think he could do it pretty damn well if I'm honest.
Wow, what an unattractive nerd.

I still think Donald Glover would be an awesome Peter Parker.

Anyone pushing 30 minus Donald Glover is too old.

Yeah, I said this a few weeks ago when the MCU Spiderman news first leaked after the "hack"... It makes perfect business sense, I can't imagine Marvel won't do it.

Get Parker in 3 SM movies and a few cross-overs, then flip to Morales to open "phase 4" or whatever, and keep the MCU going for another 10 movies.

By the time the Peter Parker actor gets too old for Spider-Man, so will the actors for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and pretty much all the heroes from Marvel Studios. And most likely, the intertwining plot lines from dozens of movies in the shared universe will have become convoluted beyond repair.

They'd have to reboot everything at that point. It'd make no sense to reboot some franchises while continuing others.

Who says that Bucky will be Captain America at all? We know Evans is out and doesnt want to pursue any more Marvel films once his contract runs through, but with Sam Wilson (formerly the Falcon) now the Sentinel of Liberty in the comics and with sales pretty strong, it makes sense that Marvel might want to put Anthony Mackie in the suit. It would be easier for fans if they decide to check out the comics.

Then again Marvel may just remove Sam from the book and bring back Bucky as Cap to coincide with the film.

I'm as optimistic as the next guy, buy Goddard is hardly anything close to a given. The guy's made one movie that sat on the shelf for years before being released (and while some people liked it, I did not). I will give him the benefit of the doubt, I guess, since JJ also came mostly from TV, but there's no indication that Goddard can handle a huge tentpole anymore than Webb or the next guy, or that he even has the level of talent to bring what's needed to the table.

Why turn Falcon into Cap and be rid of Steve Rogers? Marvel said before they want to treat the MCU like James Bond. Have a continuous story and just get a new actor when one drops out. They will probably retire the character for a bit then bring them back with the new actor.

Turning Bucky into Cap or Falcon into Cap just doesn't make sense in the MCU. Retiring the characters for a while and then bringing them back with a new actor does.

That is not a fact for the movie. Just because it happened in the comics doesn't mean the same will happen in the film either. Plus
[Show spoiler]if he does die in Civil War they are bringing him back for Infinity War.

There is no point in one character, Bucky or Falcon, taking over the mantle of Captain America when Evans is done with the role. Retire the character and recast down the road like Marvel has talked about doing before.

With the 9 picture deal that Stan has I'm pretty sure he'll end up being Cap, even if it's only temporary.

Like they have done before, look at Hulk.

I hate this "reboot" era we're living in right now. Chris Pratt rumored to be the new Indiana Jones and every website reports it as a reboot by default. Why? Recasting used to be the norm and it works a lot better than retelling the same stories over and over.

Reboots should only be done when a massive quality drop occurred (Batman & Robin for example) or it's been like 50 years since the original (Dracula, Frankenstein, etc.).

I don't care who they cast as Spider-Man, just as long as he's an absolute hunk with enormous muscles!

That and perfectly styled hair. Actually just give Garfield some steroids, and tell him to hit the gym for a few months. Bring him back, please!

True. Look at James Bond. Maybe the recent DG films are the reboot, but before it was just recasting.
