Maybe Shoot the Piano Player sometime too?

That looks like the scan on the Artificial Eye BD I own in their Truffaut box set, so it might be a hint.

Not sure if it’s on another Criterion release, but it stood out as a possibility.
The current Warner BluRay is very good IMO. So I hope if its a Hitchcock film its not that one and something like Spellbound or more so Young and Innocent.

Not to mention with the 60th next year I wouldn’t be surprised if WB did an UHD.

I could have sworn you'd bought and sold the entire Criterion Collection a couple of times already...

I'm assuming Spellbound is slated for a release, given we've already had Rebecca and Notorious.

Only Stage Fright and Mr. & Mrs. Smith left to complete his American films.

  • The Tale of Zatoichi
Have you made it to #15 (Zatoichi’s Cane Sword) yet? One of my favorites since Ichi has to do more hand-to-hand combat because his sword is on the verge of breaking. 21 (Zatoichi Goes to the Fire Festival) is also a favorite of mine because the villain is also blind, so the showdown is unique compared to the other entries. 24 (Zatoichi in Desperation) was directed by Ichi himself (Shintaro Katsu). It has a grindhouse element to it that the other films don’t have. I feel like I need to rewatch 24 soon because I had mixed feelings about it. You have so much to look forward to from a film viewing perspective.

I own every Kenji Mizoguchi Criterion available. Can't wait to add another, and I have never seen this new one!

A new 4k restoration and Kazuo Miyagawa on cinematography and Kenji Mizoguchi with the story. Ugetsu and Sansho The Baliff are possibly my 2 favorite movies ever....so much perfection it's crazy.

Well, Criterion doesn't always avoid obvious clues.

I remember when there was a newsletter drawing of grapes in the sun - obviously, it was for A Raisin in the Sun. Even so, some insisted that it was for something else, like The Wild Bunch.

I just got through #12 Zatoichi and the Chess Expert. That and #10 Zatoichi's Revenge really have stood out.

I haven't had a newsletter for months. Have they blocked out non-US people?

Found it in my spam folder. Wasn't there when the clue was posted in here though.

#17 - Zatoichi Challenged - is my favorite. Let me know what you think.

I believe there may be a problem with The Lady Vanishes.

The blu-ray (devoid of any scratches) does not play on the following:

Sony UBP-X700
Sony BDPS3700
PS3 (Fat)

The blu-ray loads and briefly shows the "C" in the top left corner then fails to bring up the movie's menu. I'm sending my copy to Criterion for a replacement.

Looks like the lady isn't the only thing that vanishes.
