That's funny. I actually prefer the Xbox 360 for the controller. I like the feel of it better, and am more accustomed to the button layout for games. MY PS3 gets the majority of its use as a blu-ray player. But this is just my opinion. To each his own.

At this point, I think people just sound stupid when they make comments or innuendos alluding to the PS3's 'lack of good games'. Such comments have been ignorant for quite a long time now and fit right in with comments that go like 'Will insert-something-here save Blu-ray?'... which tend to come from the same people.

If the PS3 wasn't a threat, why do 360 fans talk about it so much? And why does Microsoft keep dropping the price on the 360 so aggressively?

Ignoring all of the propoganda and just looking at Microsoft's actual business actions... it's pretty hard to argue that they don't see the PS3 as a huge threat. Many of their actions almost seem desperate, really. Hurling lots of money at exclusive deals and price cuts.

I seem to remember HD DVD hurling money at exclusive deals and price cuts, too. How did that turn out?

I don't mean to imply the 360 is going to die or anything. It's not. It's a big threat itself. I'm just pointing out that as much as all these media sites paint the PS3 as DOA, it can hardly be dismissed out of hand. Indeed, anyone who's actually paying attention should notice that Sony is on the virge of a big surge.

Dust it off, indeed.

Poor.

Which controller is better is a pure matter of personal preference, really. And it bugs me that console news sites will say things like "It's generally accepted that the 360 has the better controller"... but then that's ps3fanboy for you (a site run by 360 fanboys).

A whole lot of PS3 owners would strongly disagree.

The original xbox didn't have a very good controller. But the 360 controller... the first thing I noticed about it when I picked it up was that it felt almost exactly like the PS3 controller. It didn't look like it. But it felt like it. I believe Microsoft basically just copied it and obfuscated the design so it wouldn't look obvious that they did so (kindof like how they changed Mii's when they copied them... oh wait).

But whatever. The two controllers are virtually identical in terms of feel. Any claims about one having better buttons or the other having better analog sticks or whatever people drivel on about... it's splitting hairs at best and totally made up at worst.

The PS3 controller has the advantage of built in rechargable batteries and motion sensors. Other than that they're really on par with eachother. And I wish people would just accept that.

It's not really. I have to use two totally different grips on each controller due to the placement of the sticks. On the 360 controller I can use just my thumbs and index fingers and reach all of the sticks, buttons and triggers
comfortably and easily. On the PS3 controller I have to use the claw grip.... my thumbs on the sticks, index fingers on the R1 and L1 and middle fingers on the R2 and L2. I really have a hard time with the claw grip so I don't play with nearly as much skill on my PS3.

I also prefer the removable battery pack so I can just swap a low pack for a fresh one. My consoles are above my tv.... so if I have to plug in a cord to recharge during play... that cord is dangling in front of my screen.

It's true that it's totally a matter of presonal preference.... but it is not true that the controllers are virtually identical. I wish all the console manufacturers would make a variety of controller styles available to their customers.

most people i know use their ps3s all the time be it for games or movies but the fact that it does get used is a given and the glossy black dont help much when it comes to dust, which they made a matt black version.

as for the controller ive grown up using the PS never had a old xbox only use one a few times but i do have a 360 and im just not really used to the controller so it just feels out of place to me.

As far as the ps3 controller you just can't plug it into any old usb port to charge it. The grips are one thing but please you should be able to charge any ps3 controller with a usb cable plugged into and usb port!!!

That's true... but I don't have any USB ports in my sofa either.... so my current choices are live with the dangling cord, or stop playing when the battery dies. Again.... it's just a matter of personal preference though.

Buy a second controller and use one while charging the other. That's what I do.

Yup, me too, actually buy 4 controllers, it is the only way to go!

Got 4 Wiimotes and nun-chucks, 4 Xbox 360 controllers (2 wired) and 4 PS3 controllers (1 SixAxis, 3 DS3)!

It's $30, but I have one of these by my couch. It makes for a nice stand to recharge controllers when you're not using them, plus it has two USB ports if you need to recharge and play at the same time.

Plus it looks really cool.

Does that actually work?

I heard the Wiimote charging cradle can damage the Wiimote, so I was holding back from buying any.

One of my Tv's has a usb port many of my laptops have usb ports and even my cable box hd dvr has a usb port. Seems as though you should look around at your other equipment.

I have all those things.... but the point is the only thing on my side of the room is a sofa... so if my controller battery runs out WHILE I am playing... there's no convenient way to charge it. That's why I prefer a swappable battery pack. I'm not slamming the PS3 controller... just stating my personal preference for an external bettery vs an internal one. I also like the external pack because I can power off the controller just by popping the pack out and back in; saving the need to go into the menu. Again.... no huge deal..... just a personal preference.
