Lies! Damn lies! Sony can say anything it likes and the SEC will do nothing.

Good stuff. Bring on Europe! Let the worldwide BD hug commence.

Playstation 3 is still sold out at Best Buy and other stores so people are still buying them.

Nonsense. They are stacked to rafters and collecting dust.

Amazing how reality just somehow fails to match the wishful thinking fairy tale world of the zealot, eh?

The Best Buy store inventories have been fairly large, but it's nice to see that the their website has sold out again.

IMO I think the demand has certainly dropped off a bit compared to the original launch, but my guess is that it's progressively picking up again as people save up money for the console.

Dumping 1 million + consoles into the channels so early in the game would tend to counter the demand.

Supply AND demand. They go together. High supply doesn't mean low demand.

The Playstation franchise killer apps aren't out yet. And so many of the hardcore don't need to rush out (with empty post Xmas pockets) and get a PS/3. In the meantime, hopefully all of those wanting to get one for A/V and not camping out, will be able to.

Just wait until the titles like Motostorm come out. Hokey smokes. And Grand Turismo 5 is going to be an almost religious experience if the HD Concept is the early preview!

I tell my friends who try and tell me the ps3 is going to fail that the PS3 outsold the 360 in the same time frame last year! So if the 360 was a success with one of the crappiest game lineups till gears came out, imagine what the PS3 will do once their A game is released. I have 0 doubt the PS3 will be very successful.

What the Xbox fanboys fail to realize is there is a HUGE anti-Microsoft community out there.

Linux folk (PS/3 is a Linux box). Apple folk. And a lot of people that would like to get something other than Microsoft if it was really viable for their situation. They all have a choice with game and HD disc platforms.

And, of course, Microsoft could give away Xbox 360/HD DVD in Japan and people would probably ignore it.

Good point about the anti-MS people out there. Ever wonder why NO ONE calls it a Microsoft Xbox 360 and just says 360? For one, anything microsoft is evil. Xbox is associated with ugly and clunky. 360 does sound nice. which is why everyone who is even a fan of the 360, calls it that. Calling it Xbox 360 cheapens the name lol. I dont think even the most hardcore of xbox fans would say "Microsoft Xbox 360" in public, but would have no issue saying Sony PS3.

Well I saw last night nine 60GBs deposited on a cleared out area in the exact center of my local BestBuy. I also saw 2 in Target.

I calculated about 2 million sold for tomorrow (Jan 17). Wonder if 2 million shipped for Jan 16 will sell so fast

I don't think it will be too difficult for me to snatch Playstation 3 today if I am going to get it.

I have seen 3 PS3 60gb systems in stock at Best Buy and Targets have 3 PS3 60gb systems in stock 2 days ago.

I keep thinking, "how hell it can be."
I search for Xbox 360 one year ago and it was impossible find it after two month of launch day(2005).

However, today I am able to find Playstation 3 in stock after two month of launch day. All Playstation 3 cost $599.99 that are most in stock. It was suppose to be out of stock, but it did not happen as I thought.

well the main reason why is because there werenot enough xbox360's availiable. an also the playstation 3 being in stock is no indication of how its demand is not as much as the xbox360. due to the simple fact is . it depends on which area of the world you live in. i live in columbus OHIO, an there are right now very low number of stores that have them in stock an if they do. they have so little ammounts. but i bet BIG CITIES LIKE LA, or NEW YORK would be a much diffrent story. SONY would like no doubt to sell the system to the consumer as soon as it gets through the retail stores back door straight out the front door. but the fact is people work, go to school. have lives outside of gameing. so when people go into the store WHEN THEY SEE ONE THEY CHOOSE to buy it or not to. if they still want it but choose to wait. that is still good. that still means sony could sell a system down the road. the first price cut for the playstation 2 happened 14 months after it was released in the US. so SONY may do the same with the playstation 3...an some people could hope sooner than later...

I tried to get my name down for 5 PS3 Consoles with a small independant trader in the UK today, he politely informed me he closed the waiting list in 2005

He also informed me that the advertising campaign for the Europe launch of the PS3 should start in 14 days or so time. Lets hope Sony get enough consoles into Europe and there are no more delays!!

According to NPD:

The Xbox 360 sold 350K through the end of 2005. A million shipped wasn't reached until April.
The PS/3 sold 664K. A million shipped by the end of year.

See the difference?

WELL with the 2 million shipped world wide is a very good indication they have indeed ramped up the production ..because nov 11 japan only had a little over 80,000 for launch an now they have shipped out 1 million in japan alone. in little over a month that was done. looks very good indeed to be showing numbers in production like this. if you look at the launch of the xbox360 last time in the 2005/2006 year arround this time up until march an apr. Microsoft had a very hard time getting the outsources production companies to make the hardware fast enough for them. the mere fact is sony is a hardware production company means less problems in getting the systems out to the public than microsoft. yea they had problems every launch system does. but atleast it looks like they have resolved one of the problems very quickly which is very good news....

Yeah, that why it took me four months before I finally find Xbox 360 in April 27 2006, it took me 5 different stores on the same day to find it, only 1 out of 5 that had xbox 360 in stock.

It took Mircosoft more than 7 months last year before it become easier to find at stores for Xbox 360.

Oh, yes I remember that Mircosoft did not have enough stock to ship them and have some problems.
