I’ve decided to compile a list of Eureka titles that were also encoded by Luke Louca. These discs should work in any non-Panasonic Blu Ray/UHD player by simply pressing “top menu”/“disc menu” at the region lock screen.

Note: There might be more in the “Classics” and/or MoC line but I need people with discs (mostly late 2016 release-"High Noon") to confirm. Any release post-"High Noon" will not work. The LE releases of "High Noon" and "The Last Waltz" will also work. Non-Eureka discs: ![]() ![]() Note: "They Live" tested using the Steelbook release; presumably the CE disc will work as well. The extras disc will not load. Unknown if the standard 4K reissue was quietly fixed or if this release has the same disc as the CE/Steel. Last edited by Dailyan; 05-06-2022 at 06:02 PM. |

Yup, all of my region locked Arrow and Eureka releases have worked perfectly with my Panasonic player; the only labels that have given me the most trouble/wouldn't work are BFI, Signal One, and most StudioCanal titles ("Cross of Iron" and the remastered "Mulholland Drive" at least work). The ones that I have in the post that you replied to, however, will work on any player.

The descriptions of the two editions on Eureka's site are almost identical. The Standard Edition obviously lacks the slipcase and the 100-page book, but includes a different (and way smaller) booklet. The on-disc features descriptions are the same, so I would assume the discs are identical.

I haven't bought too many Eureka titles in a while but I can confirm that "Hell and High Water", "House of Bamboo", "Cover Girl", and "A Man For All Seasons" do not work. I don't believe there's that many titles left. I have a hunch that "Cujo", "Death in the Garden", "Khartoum", and "Night of the Creeps" will work but I do not own any of them so I can't verify; there's also "The Blue Lagoon", "Picnic", and "Under Fire" but I'm not too sure about those like the earlier mentioned titles.

I also tested Aloys, The Housemaid and Kills on Wheels. The trick did not work on any of them.

The top menu trick to go around region-blocked Blu-rays is a case-by-case basis based on the player you have. Sony players in general (to my knowledge) have never implemented the top menu trick on any of their Blu-ray players as they seemed to adhere to the region-locking policies. The top menu trick generally works on a host of Panasonic Blu-ray & 4K players primarily with a host (but not all) of titles from Eureka, Arrow & BFI to name a few. Other companies like 88 Films have been known not to work with the top menu trick.

"Unfortunately the trick is a case of "your mileage may vary" with brands. Discs that will work regardless of brand/player are the Eureka discs I compiled in this post: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=456" Said that, I assume these compiled Eureka discs and possibly some others non region-free from Eureka may work on a Sony blu-ray player.
