I also tested Aloys, The Housemaid and Kills on Wheels. The trick did not work on any of them.

The top menu trick to go around region-blocked Blu-rays is a case-by-case basis based on the player you have. Sony players in general (to my knowledge) have never implemented the top menu trick on any of their Blu-ray players as they seemed to adhere to the region-locking policies. The top menu trick generally works on a host of Panasonic Blu-ray & 4K players primarily with a host (but not all) of titles from Eureka, Arrow & BFI to name a few. Other companies like 88 Films have been known not to work with the top menu trick.

"Unfortunately the trick is a case of "your mileage may vary" with brands. Discs that will work regardless of brand/player are the Eureka discs I compiled in this post: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=456" Said that, I assume these compiled Eureka discs and possibly some others non region-free from Eureka may work on a Sony blu-ray player. I watched the Eureka disc and any cuts present I didn't notice at all (then again this was my first time watching the film).

This might be beyond a long shot, but has anyone had success using the Panasonic Top Menu trick with either the UK or Netherlands Rectify discs, specifically season 4?
It's a tremendous show, but it's years later and I still haven't seen the final season. Heck, I'd buy all four on blu-ray if they'll play, since my 1-3 are DVD-only and the show has real visual style, but my main concern at this point is seeing the fourth season at all. |

You don't really need the Top Menu trick. All four seasons are good for both Region A and Region B. I have my region-free player permanently set to "B", so I haven't checked for "C". For some unknown reason, the Season 1 discs won't play in my old Sony (RA) player, but they play fine in my current LG (RA) player. Now to update the database here to reflect Region A compatibility... |

Have you considered making a list of what titles have been checked? I know you have a list of which ones do, but I still have curiousity about which ones are confirmed to NOT work with the menu trick from the Eureka line, and which ones haven't been tested for it.

I recently tested "The Butterfly Tree", "Under the Tree", "Suntan" and "Bliss". The 'top menu' trick did not work on all of them.

So I really hope somebody here can help me. I'm not experienced with these methods of using a Panasonic Blu Ray player to play a region B Blu Ray. I have a Panasonic DMP-BD75, and the only region B Blu Ray disc I have and want to play at the moment is the special features disc of the 4K Second Sight Dawn of the Dead set. I was able to get it to work on this player somehow a few times, but I still can't figure out how for sure. Everytime I try the stop and then pop up menu button right after it does now work. I want to say I was hitting the number 1 at one point and got it to work but I tried different combinations of the 1, stop, ok, and pop up menu and none of them worked. Does anyone know what the correct order to punch in on this particular model to get a region B Blu ray to play is? I just want to be able to consistently get this disc to work, and if I can do that, try to import some more discs.
Edit: if I try spamming the stop and pop up menu button too much then I get a "disc is incompatible" message pop up. |

I'll see if that works later, but I don't think I can see the 1 blinking when I press the button. At least not with this disc. I think it was giving me some error message in the corner.

I haven't followed this thread closely, but a quick search doesn't yield any results for this one.
The French Fear City blu ray works fine with the top menu trick. Tested with a Panasonic 4K player. ![]() Unfortunately, it has forced French subtitles when the English audio track is selected. My Panasonic player will let you shift the subtitle position, so I was able to just shift them down below the frame since they're not burned in. So not a big deal for me, but may be for others. |

You might just have to time it correctly. That older Panasonic player I had was my first dedicated blu-ray player (if you don't count a PS3), and I am currently on my fourth player, but I do remember having to time the 1 presses pretty quickly to get it to work, and it was always a bit finicky for some titles.
