I know a lot of people weren't enthusiastic about Fantasia 2000. This is too bad. I'd have liked to have seen Disney's dream of this being a film that would cycle out every decade with some new music and some old come to reality.
I think it is a limitless concept. It is just too bad that most don't want to embrace it today.

What would be your own mix of Fantasia? I am curious. I would throw out the Pastorale and the repetition of Mickey Mouse.

Perhaps it will be possible, if they put both features on the same disc, which should be feasible (F2000 is not very long).

Agreed about the 1982 version, since it was the first I ever saw.

Default Disney's Fantasia

I know it is 11 months away. I just hope Disney doesn't screw up the Blu-ray like they did the DVD. Deems Taylor's voice was DUBBED! I could not believe that. So I'm hoping they offer the original sound track as an option.

His voice was dubbed but that was because they lost the original audio tracks or they were never found at the time.

I think it would be very cool if as an option for audio if they could let us also hear the Irwin Kostel stereo track from the early 80's. I know they could figure it in possibly but who knows.

There are losts of things they could do as bonus features for Fantasia but yeah that dubbing was the best they could do besides leaving the audio blank or omitting the Deem Taylor footage.

Lastly, I hope for Fantasia that Disney ( I hope someone from the House of Mouse is reading this!) will do the excellent frame by frame clean-up job that was done for both Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio! I thought they were both awesome, and Fantasia, my favorite Disney film of all time, deserves no less!!! And I'll take every release trailer from the film from 1940-1990 as a bonus as well!

I hope they can add the Irwin Kostal soundtrack also as an option. That would be very cool.

Well, more accurately, the audio to the scenes exclusive to the roadshow version is missing. All of the Deems Taylor narration from the General Release cut still exists. I think the biggest complaint comes from people upset that all of Deems' narration was over-dubbed for the DVD. Disney's logic was that the change between the original narration and the sound-alike would be jarring, so it was better for consistency's sake to dub everything.

If they give us a seamlessly branched disc that allows us to choose between roadshow and general release version, then this would be no problem since it could be laid over the General Release version perfectly. Actually, seamless branching of the two versions could solve the Deems Taylor issue to eveyone's satisfaction as well.

I haven't neither, perhaps when I was really young, but I don't remember it at all.

I just know it has a lot of good music in it. Hopefully we get good sound treatment with it. 7.1...

My wife Marta and I won a national Disney trivia contest back in the early 80's. We still have the small gold Mickey trophy somewhere in storage. Haven't seen it since we last moved in Nov. of 06.

We were upset when the local IMAX didn't show the 2000 version. Then we saw the 2000 version. We are so glad we didn't drive the 200 (one way) miles to see it in K.C..

Wonder if they will restore the nudity in this film?

Doubt it, but it would be nice to see it the way it was released.

Default Maybe a branching option

It is only cartoon nudity.

We have an unaltered laser disk of Fantasia and Roger Rabbit.

Well now... I wouldn't say unaltered. *Eyes Disney*

Yes, the depiction was racially insensitive. Still, put in the context of the era the film should be restored to it's original version for historical purposes. It was a different era, and people need to realize that.
