Most people I know bought the X360 as a Halo machine, once it comes out, I think a lot of gamers are going to stop buying games and just play the shit out of Halo 3.
its not the specs of the machine, its dvd9. look at the 360 games they are either pretty, with short or bad gameplay or long/goodgameplay with bad graphics. halo 3 will be focusing a lot on online, which doesn't take up a whole lot of disc space, thatlly be its saving grace, but camapaign won't be hot. Trust me you will never see a game on the 360 unless its multiple discs that is long, drawn out, good gameplay, and pretty graphics (gt5, mgsiv, drakes fortune, etc.) it can't fit on the disc.

You really sound like someone that hasn't played the 360.

I've played a ton of games and for the most part they've all looked great. I also haven't really found any to be too short.

Why people need to trash talk the other console is beyond me - and if you are going to do it, at least do it with things that are accurate.

Oblivion, Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, PGR3 and Crackdown are just some examples of some games that looked good and had plenty of game play.

I think the only titles in the PS3 lineup that interest me and are titles I will buy are Lair and Warhawk. Maybe GT - I did like the demo.

first off i have a 360, second off the player movements in oblivion are utter sh1t, yeah running sideways down a hill looks real good in 3rd person view. the 360 version of oblivion has awful drops in framerate (thanks to not being able to cache b/c of no standard hdd) and player models are nothing to brag about either. also, a lot of things such as grass, bushes, weeds, trees there are only a few variations and they are simply repeated over and over and over again. while oblivion has a great story, the side missions get overly repeatitive with finding crap for people or killing somebody off (i have the game for both systems and i do like it, just in spurts though). how long is the camapign in GoW, yeah like 5 hours my point made. pgr 3 has 80 cars about a quarter of what gran turismo 5 will have when it comes out and only has 4 different environments (cities) to tool around in. really not nothing special, ign said if felt more like pgr 2.75, oh well there is already pgr 4, oh wait bizzaire already proved my point about limited disc space by saying, well, they need more disc space. crackdown, well just going off the ign review it said its not a long game, and it gave the graphics an average 7 out of 10. rainbow 6 vegas is you best bet to prove your argument. its a solid game, however i think its going to have trouble standing up to some of the other big shooters coming out such as haze, unreal, killzone, in the end, r6v is going to fall behind in both graphics and gameplay to at least one of these (most likely unreal, which epic has already stated blu-ray has helped out considerbly and the xbox version will have more compression and less maps). and i will trash talk something that scratched up one of my discs, because i bumped the console accidently while playing, that has had 3rl, and really doesn't offer me more than a bunch of shooters with some racing games that will not live up to gran turismo, adventure games that will not live up to drake's fortune, innovative games like littlebigplanet, or an rpg that can live up to ff series.

Touche

I did find GOW to be long enough though. And then the online was really good. And I guess I am also not as picky - I found Oblivion to be great - yeah there are a few issues, but I still thought it looked great graphically. And for me, game play is definetely more important. One of my favorites is bomberman live and the graphics on that are nothing special.

Regarding Crackdown - I don't recall how long it took, but it has lots of replayability. And the coop is great. Graphics are also great - I think the look is exactly what they were going for.

And I think the linup for 360 exclusives is pretty good in comparison. Both have a nice fall lineup. 360 has Mass Effect, Halo3 and PGR4 to name a few.

I think the titles I am most looking forward to are Mass Effect, Halo3 and Lair.

im in total agreement that gameplay is much more important, however, the point i was trying to make, is you won't really see games that have both long, great gameplay and excelent graphics on the 360, it seems to be a trade off sort of thing. online shooters can have both, however how many online shooters can you have? 360 does have a good holiday lineup, ill be playing mass effect and maybe a little halo 3, but i think i will enjoy unreal more, and probably be most satisfied with drake's fortune. lair looks great, i think the early/bad reviews are going to get revised or something, as lepzeig has everybody talking good things about this game once again.

I guess we'll see for sure when Mass Effect is out. I believe its supposed to have a long story line and great graphics.

Either way though - MS didn't have any choice but to go with DVD. They couldn't have waited a year to launch and it also would have jacked the price up another couple hundred.

ive always thought this would be a very good game, but not be able to live up to eveything it promised. http://www.destructoid.com/pax-2007-...ng-40483.phtml desctrucoid finds it disappointing, so i don't know. after all the hype over this game and time and money and effort, if ME can't live up to expectations, then im not sure how many games in the 360s future are going to be offering what ME is supposed to be.

I'm looking forward to their lineup of upcoming games, but am more interested to see what the final reviews will be on these games as the PS3 has yet to knock one out of the park.

You're more interested in the reviews than playing the games for yourself?

After years and years of gaming going back to the Atari 2600 all I have to say is I have been burned over and over by just picking up games because I figured they would be good and turned out to be a complete waste of money.
Probably about 10 years ago or so I stopped buying anything that didn't review favorably and have found that reviews tend to be pretty dead on when it comes to gaming. And guess what, ever since I have NEVER been let down in any way on a game purchase.
I also have yet to have a friend own a game that bombed in the reviews tell me how great it was, instead it's, "Man I should have read the reviews".
So to answer your question, no I am not going to spend $60 for a game that turns out to be crap or not very good (as the reviews could have told me) because I had to find out for myself. There is enough good stuff out there for me not to have to waste my time on the mediocre or bad games.
Most bad game reviews are due to control issues, bugs, poor frame rate etc..Why would I want to experience those things when they totally ruin the game experience?

After a bit of a drought things are looking up for the PS3 in the run up to Christmas.

Interesting point on Halo3, the BBC website recently had access to a level of Halo 3 and of Killzone 2. They were impressed with K2, but felt a little let down by Halo3. A case of one not meeting expectations, and the other exceeding!

oblivion was good all around and so is Bioshock. (even though i have not beaten it yet.) Bioshock may be the best game on the 360 ever. (so far, I will have to check out Halo 3)

Games like bioshock creep me out sometimes. I hate being snuck up on and have something attack me from behind The surround sound just adds such another dimension to so many games...

Yes, Oblivion looks better on the PS3 they had a whole year to fix problems,, but Xbox 360 has all the downloadable content (I think 9 in total), Shivering Isle is great.

Bioshock looks great, haven’t bought it yet, but almost all comments say it’s the best game for Xbox 360 this year. I bought Two Worlds instead. I really enjoy this game, although I will have to say it has some frame rate issue, but there’s an update coming to fix that.

Halo 3 is going to be a big hit on the Xbox 360. No one can argue this. It’s already broke a few records. (Fastest selling preorder of all time) There predicting some where around $150 million in sells in the first day alone.

For Mass Effect, I don’t trust a review from someone just looking at a game. Watching someone play a game and playing a game are totally two different things. Then again I don’t really trust reviews, just like I don’t trust credits reviews for movies.

Some may not like what’s coming out on Xbox 360 and that’s fine, Some may not like what’s coming out on PS3 and that’s ok too. It’s your opinion.

In my opinion I have to go with Xbox 360 for games I’m looking forward to buying this winter. PS3 has some good games but nothing I have to run out and buy.
Warhawk (I’m a big fan of the First on PS1) was going to be on of my must have games until they through out the single player game out and went with Online combat only.

Folklore is another one I’m still debating on, I’m a big fan of RPG. Can’t wait for FFXIII.

So like I said everyone’s going to have a different opinion.

I do agree that putting a DVD drive in the Xbox 360 was a mistake. They should have had a HD-DVD or Blu-ray drive put in. (I would have prefer Blu-ray )
