Going back even further, I believe the last Toho Kurosawa release was Ikiru in December 2015.

I watched "Bulworth" again recently and, in many ways, the film is amazingly prescient and a lot of the satire really holds up. The DVD is absolutely ancient, so a Criterion would be really nice.

Yeah, I think it would even more relevant today, so hopefully Criterion does have it, and gives it a release soon enough.

Weird to see the country listed as France for a Lynch film, but I guess it's due to the production company behind it. Although, the same company was also behind Fire Walk With Me, and Janus lists that one as United States

I recently ordered the Criterion Double Indemnity 4k blu ray edition online, but received the regular blu ray version instead. Is anyone else having similar issues? The packaging for the 4k and blu ray editions of Criterion discs is so similar it invites these types of problems.

I'm hoping I get to see this in theaters.

One around my way had Inland Empire so chances look good.

Sorry if the issue has maybe been raised before, but has anybody else had problems with scratched discs from for the most recent Criterion releases? It seems that about half the Criterions released in the last 2 years that I own are scratched, even if I bought them brand new.

I typically get all my Criterion discs form the public library and don't recall any scratched copies. If one was scratched, I'd just talk to the librarian and get a replacement.

The only scratch discs issue I've ever encountered was from my Godzilla, the Showa-Era collection and these were some serious scratches. The same day I purchased, I took screenshots immediately of my massacred discs as soon as I opened it up and contacted Criterion and sent it back to them. I was happy to pay for the return shipping and they sent me another immaculate copy. The whole process was pretty easy and went smooth.

I know others don't like the packaging for the Godzilla collection but I love it! It's a giant set, fit for the king of monsters!

Some of the worst scratches that I have are on Menace II Society, In the Heat of the Night, Some Like it Hot, Miller's Crossing, High Sierra, Celine and Julie Go Boating, Parasite, Christ Stopped at Eboli and a few discs from the Fellini set. I have a lot more discs with minor scratches. These scratches are clearly happening during the replication of the discs or when they are placed in the cases, so I can't believe that I'm the only one having this problem with the more recent Criterion releases.

Unfortunately I didn't notice these scratches when I received the blu-rays so I can't return them anymore. I will have to contact Criterion. I hope it won't be too much of a hassle since I have a lot of discs to replace.

I had it delivered to one of the Amazon lockers, and it should be ready for pickup today. We'll see what I get.

One thing that bothers me about the Criterion website is that they don't have detailed pages for ALL their Blu-rays. About to watch One Hundred and One Nights, whose PCM stereo I'm guessing is a surround mix, but I can't be 100 percent sure. If it were its own release and not part of the Varda set, its page would say either stereo or 2.0 surround.

Flashing black bars are REALLY distracting. Don't know how anyone wouldn't notice. Almost all the movies in the Varda boxset suffer from this, due to less than ideal compression. The Immortal Story by Welles has this too.

[Show spoiler]

Go back and forth between both images in fullscreen with your image viewer while staring at the middle if you think I'm being ridiculous.

I wonder if there are any media players that allow the user to push player generated black bars over the picture.

On the sides. It's a 1.66:1 movie.
