Bad panel on panny 800u

This happened to my TV recently, same model as the OPs. I was watching it one morning and all of a sudden a 3" vertical black line appeared on the TV. It wouldn't go away, and it was on all the inputs. Panasonic was very good about arranging a repair and a local repairman was at my house within a couple days. The repairman knew immediately that the panel was going to need to be replaced but Panasonic made him try changing out some parts first. This didn't work so they replaced the panel. From the time I first had the problems to the time it was done being repaired was a little over a month. My TV was about 10 months old but under warranty so I didn't have to pay anything, and I haven't had any problems since.
