Default 50 inch Panny Viera 800u VS Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD

Ok, so I have a 768p 42" Panny Plasma at the moment. I'm picking up a PS3 for Blu-Ray, and I'm going to get a 1080p, LCD or DLP. I'm kind of unhappy with my current set's PQ. It's not bad, but.. nevermind...back on subject. I was looking into either

Sammy LCD - http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN52A6...2212910&sr=8-1

Sammy DLP - http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HL56A6...2210246&sr=1-4

Sammy DLP #2 - http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HL61A7...2210246&sr=1-1

Sony LCD - http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Bravia-KD...2212985&sr=1-3

Sony LCD #2 - http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Bravia-KD...2213016&sr=1-3

^^ A little bit out of my budget... for the Sony XBR5

Any suggestions? Mainly will be used for Xbox 360/PS3 Games/Blu-Ray/HD Programming Via Dish.

Samsung 52A650 in my opinion. The Sony XBR5 are super good too but for the money you wont find a better 52inch LCD than the Samsung. The 650 is one of the top rated LCD's on pretty much every review site (check out cnet.com they give you a full review and video on it too)

The other Sony you have up there (not the XBR5) but the V series is a good tv but its Sony's lowest class 1080p LCD. Where as the Samsung 650 is their upper line of 1080p LCD's. It used to be one of the top then the started rolling out the 850's and 950's. But still the 650 is an amazing tv!!

And no to DLP. yes you get the most screen size for your dollar but DLP's are slowing phasing out. In my opinion the Samsung 650 is the most reasonable and best priced unit. Good luck

How would the Picture quality on the A650 vs the Sammy 56" or 61" 1080p DLP be?

Its going to be quite a noticable difference. Over the years DLP's have made a tremendous improvement in picture quality but its still not up to par with the best lcd's and plasma's. The picture in the 650 is going to be brighter, have better contrast, and generally produce a better picture when properly calibrated. The DLP's are going to seem darker in picture, the whites wont seem as bright as the LCD, and the colors wont seem to stand out as much as they would on the LCD.

Plus LCD is generally the best choice for video games too

I saw my friends last year model, or the year before last years model and his 50" Samsung DLP, it LOOKS AMAZING with Blu-Ray.

Here's a Screen shot of it.

Yes it does look good but the Samsung LN52A650 was not out at that time was it? and now since it is, imho it would blow the doors off an older DLP tv

Stay far away from the LCD's unless you enjoy motion blur. Go with the 61" Samsung LED DLP. It is wonderful and blows everything else you have listed out of the water.

Do you own it? Or have you seen it playing any Blu-Ray movies?

The A650 has no motion blur... It has a 4MS response time.

The Sony S4100 is the lowest class 1080p LCD. It still features Bravia Engine 1, the V Series features Bravia Engine 2.

Sorry meant to put "one of" Yes it does feature the Bravia Engine 2, but imho its not on the same level as the XBR5 and the 650 LCD and 750 DLP Samsungs. It still is a beautiful tv though, dont get me worng.

Default 50 inch Panny Viera 800u VS Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD

Ok, Ok, I know that the Pioneer is probably better... but I mean honestly.. I'm not made of money and I'm wondering if it's $1,000 better than the 50" Panny 800u.
I have a 768p set right now, a Panny PX77u.
I'm looking into a bigger size, and 1080p because I will be picking up a Blu-Ray player soon.
I'm kind of stuck, I mean.. the Pioneer is out of my budget.. but I'm not getting the new 1080p set untill December or January, so I'm wondering.. will prices go down? Can I snag a deal anywhere?
How's the difference in PQ between the two?
Worth that much more for the Pioneer?
I absolutely love the black levels on the Pioneer but Panny is catching up and releasing quality products each year, that are right behind Pioneer.
Any advice?

There have been tons of threads on this topic, most people will say Pioneer if you can afford it. If you cant then panasonic will be fine.

+1

Nothing wrong with the Panny at all. But, then again, a KURO is the best.

How much do you think the price will drop to this December or early next year, like January? For the Pioneer?

if you have the money go with the Kuro. If not go with the Panasonic but the Panasonic is not a second choice.
