Default Do you plan to buy an HD-DVD player soon as well?

Those who own a blu-ray do you plan to buy an HD-DVD player as well? Just curious to see if some think its not worth it now or some rather have as much High Def as possible.

If by chance someone comes out with a reasonably priced universal that plays both BR and HD DVD, then yes, otherwise I'll stick with BR-only. So, there's no option for me to select, really.

IMO, there should be an "others" option.

I'll wait till MS releases an "internal" HD-DVD drive for its Xbox gaming system and not the external add-on crap garbage device that just wastes extra space beside the unit.

All movies other then universal titles will be on Blu-Ray. Why would i spend 500 to play universal flicks? Im actually tempted to pick up a sammy right now instead of getting a ps3, but im trying to hold out since i want the PS3 for gaming anyway..

What about smaller studios? They make great movies as well. Or what about porn. I bet they're going HD DVD

Porn industry is begging for time on the blu-ray lines to put out flicks. They need the space for those 3-4 hour romps. They make a lot of films and will be sticking to mpeg2, so blu-ray is where its at to them. They also realise in the next 2-3 years, theres going to be 20+ million ps3s in homes, along with stand alones, and those are all potential customers.

There will be 10 million Xbox360 by years end. There will be 15 Million by summer 2007.

Folks it's nice to support your platform of choice but highlighting the same advantages the competition has does little ..no?

I've just noticed that the couple of adult film contacts on AVS have both stated that there may be issues with making films in BD. We'll see how things play out.

FUD alert, the 'may be issues' argument. I think we heard that about BD-50s, no?

It's nice to troll and spam forums with propoganda and FUD from another side...no?

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...3851#post23851

Especially without any firsthand knowledge or experience to back it up, or even any regard for any of that?

You've been shilling HD-DVD for the last year long before any products ever hit the streets and you continue to do so to this day, regardless of what your sig here says.

Who do you think you're kidding at this point? Certainly not any of us.

Who cares? You can get tons of free porn on the Internet anytime you want.

Speaking more specifically on the Xbox 360, Microsoft announced that since its launch in November of last year, 6 Million Xbox 360’s have been sold to date. Add this with a full 160 game portfolio for the console by the end of the calendar year and continued record numbers in terms of software and peripherals attach rate in the US, you’ve got Microsoft estimating 4 Million more consoles to be sold by the end of the calendar year (totaling 10 Million) and a 13-15 Million Xbox 360 install base by the end of their fiscal year ending in June.
I'm not trolling i'm just correcting the slop on these. Like I've said I've been in technical positions where you can't be wrong with clients because you're talking about 6 figure deals. When I see people on here that can't get the basics right it's distressing to me. Be a fan....be a fanboy but at least be able to backup your statements with supporting data at least %60 of the time.

^^ Whoopie.

Microsoft is "estimating" (re: Hoping/wishing) that they sell that number of 360's. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't.

But that doesn't mean it's concrete fact in the here and now like you tried to pass off.

It's certainly not guaranteed for them, by any means.

Was my post not in response to a poster claiming 20 million PS3 sales by end of 2007? I didn't attack his message because it is plausible that Sony "does" ship 20 million PS3 by next year

Same answer: Maybe it'll happen. Maybe it won't.

I'll believe it when I actually see it.

I'll get a HD-DVD player if Blu-ray fails to catch on. Other than that, I'm overwhelmingly happy with my Samsung player and my collection of over 50 discs.

Wow.

I have 30 BD's and 23 HDDVD's. To this day, I can honestly say Blu Ray is not only meeting the PQ that HDDVD offers, they are beating HDDVD in Sound Quality and Player performance. There are many, many people like myself on AVS and here who own both and can attest to the quality being damn near the same on both formats + or - depending on the title we are comparing, and there is no argument that the BD players Operate better and Uncompressed 5.1 LPCM owns all other codecs.

Now onto other business:

We all have you pretty much pegged now. You claim to be here to "inform" and "Set the facts straight" but you do exactly what the AVS'rs do, You post sections of a review that cater to your point of view and then try to dance around subjects having no first hand experience with any of this equipment and all of your opinions are basically just the shared popular vote from the avsforum, people who fear they may now have bought into yet another "D-theater" and are desperately trying to save this format so they don't tank yet another $XXX.XX sum of money on a DOA format.

The Hilarity of it all is, whenever your proven wrong in a thread... or just get completely blind sided with facts from 3 or more posters...all of a sudden you start replying to things that weren't even said, or you ignore sections of the replies that hurt your point of view or like many discussions we've been in, you just simply disappear and never reply again. Or my favorite...you change your tune and start agreeing with us???

The Sig is a joke...change it. If your going to back something, then back it!...but don't disparage blu ray and then hide behind a BS sig that you have absolutely no plans to stand behind. Also, leave the HDDVD Fudmill over at avs forums where it belongs, this has been a great forum and I'd hate to see it go downhill just because of a few peoples hidden agenda's.
