Wouldn't surprise me. One thing Toshiba analysis has shown is that they can sell players when attached at super low prices or bundled in with 5-9 free movies. What they can't do is get many to buy the actual movies. Hence why Toshiba has more players sold (according to them) yet their attach rates are much worse.

I thought the attach rate was much higher with hd-dvd, is that not true?

All depends if you count the PS3 as a BD player. If you count the PS3, then more players have been sold, but the attachment rate is very low. If you don't count the PS3, then more HD-DVD players have been sold, but Blu has a better attachment rate.

There is no way to separate the two I don't think. Too many assumptions to even remotely come close to an accurate number.

Ah this is the old MS HD-DVD zealot talking point. It still hasn't died.

The only way this is true is when they simply ignore the PS3 and pretend it never existed.

This is incredibly disingenuous at best, but they do this all the time along with many other factual errors and outright lies.

The average consumer doesn't know what 1080i or 1080p is and certainly not the difference.

All they'll see is a "better than DVD" player for under $200.

The average consumer simply doesn't care about any of it right now.

That's correct. Some are starting to wonder, but they are confused.

I don't understand.

If you include the PS3 the attach rate is low.
If you take out the PS3 then the attach rate is higher but the accuracy would void any results.
