Thumbs up Rumor- Friday the 13th boxset in the works!!

Friday the 13th Blu-Ray Boxset
By jasonsfury • February 9, 2009

Bloody-Disgusting reports that they have learned Paramount is planning a Blu-Ray boxset much like the previous boxset. Please read the following:

“This past Tuesday Paramount Home Entertainment released the original Friday the 13th on Blu-ray, while sticking parts 2 and 3 on DVD (again). We learned over the weekend that Paramount is already prepping to release a brand new box set including the first eight Friday the 13th films on Blu-ray. Much like the 2004 DVD release “From Crystal Lake to Manhattan”, the box set will include the first eight films, as Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs Jason were made by New Line Cinema. No word on if they’ll be uncut or not - let us pray.”

Let’s hope for the goods on this boxset!!

That's awesome I'm glad I haven't bought the original yet, I will hold off for now. More than likely if this is true we will see a Halloween release.

I wonder what kind of list price an 8-movie set will get on BD? I figured they would have released them all separately, like they first did on dvd. 2-3 each October. I have the dvd boxset and just bought the original on BD.

Damn, I just bought 2 & 3 from the UK, too. Having different region release dates is a pain!

thanks Paramount. release the first one with a framing problem, have all the fans buy it anyway-- then announce a boxed set literally weeks after
people buy the original so they can double dip ......... again.

Glad I have startet to hold off on buying new releases. Mostly because of the price drop almost certanly happening after a month or so, but I see now that it's a good thing to wait so I avoid the double dip problem as well.

I hope Paramount gives us uncut versions of all 8 movies. I know that won't happen, but one can hope...

First off, no one forced you to buy it. Secondly, Parmount has not announced anything and I dont think we will see any announcement for a while. Thirdly, if you didn't think this was going to happen then you don't understand the business.

The original release was more than likely a test to see if sales would be high enough to warrant the box set.

Agreed. With the remake hitting home video later this summer, did your really think Paramount wouldn't try to cash in by re-releasing the original series?

I just hope they use original poster art for the blu-ray releases, and not the crap they used for parts 5-8 on DVD.

EDIT: Original poster art for Part 1 on blu-ray, while we're at it!

If the movies are uncut then mark me down for purchasing a set as soon as it;s released, if they aren't the uncut or unrated versions then i think i will just buy the original.
