There is so much competition with the Chinese in the flat panels, that I expect the BDA companies to take advantage of the BD tech to push the resolutions much higher, sooner.

Without a source of 4Kx2K content, a display would be a gimmick.

And, 4Kx2K downloads are probably twice as far in the future as HD. Huge file sizes are also a good piracy deterrent.

The huge file sizes are only a deterrent due to internet speeds. Many of the hard drive makers have new technologys which will be out by 2008 that do over 5Tb per hard drive. The space will be much less of a concern, rather, it will be the internet speed that hasnt been progressing as fast as everything else. So yes, in a way it is a good way against piracy, but only until faster internet speeds arrive.
