i may not be accurate here but i beleive that when the ps3 did the decoding it as pcm it was raw untouched audio signaland dial norm if any was handled before it was sent to ur reciever now that you have the reciever doing the actual decoding of the audio format it now has to also handle dialog normalization and so ur seeing it light up as it process's before it was jus playing and already set audio feed
another thing id like to point out is that you MAY be right in being able to get better audio due to the d.a.c.s in ur elite player over the ps3's but again remeber the ps3 was decoding the audio for u before and essentially just having ur receiver amplify the signal IT was decoding if ud like to do a better comparision switch ur bluray players audio settins to output pcm as ur psm did once again tho ull lose the dts and tru hd tags and have pcm readout again
u now essentialy have 3 different waysto decompress ur audio the ps3 the b ray player or let thereciever do it thru its own d.a.c.s honestly id say let the player handle all the video to the best of its ability and let the reciever handle all the audio thru its d.a.c.s it is an elite receiver after all ice powered lol i for one love my sc-07
