I have a cheap end plasma (Maxent) currently. I play COD4 about 4-5 hours a day now and have never had an issue with burn in. Burn in is pretty much a thing of the past. You have your all white and multi color features that you can run to help eliminate even more of the so called burn in. Just like anything you need to take CARE of your stuff. If your room is not very bright get a plasma. With plasma you dont have to worry about motion blur or soft blacks. If you have a lit room, def get an LCD with 120h to help eliminate motion blur.
By the way I have a 50" Panny Plasma on the way! |

Tell ya what @xxxxx!!!, anytime you're burning phosphors be it CRT or Plasma you have the potential to have burn in, sure they're making great strides in preventing it. But for those of us who have kids, some of who have been known to leave static images on the screens for hours or even overnight when i'm out of town, well, i'd rather just not have to even worry about it... !!

Plasma's, in their early stage, we are now in generation 10, had the problem. There is now several ways arround it, moving pizels is just one.. The only problems I have is with displays used for signage, and more with a certain brand than others Last edited by gearyt; 02-18-2008 at 03:48 PM. |

I have a plasma now and my buddy has a LCD (Sony XBR4) MY plasma blacks absolutely dominates for 1 thing. Next I think the plasma is also richer looking color. LCD is great also but it is a little on the "too bright" side to me. This is just my oponion on the 2. The main thing to look at is if your in a well lit room or it can be dark. If you are in a darker lit room buy a plasma. Panny just intoduced there Series 8 wich has a 30000:1 native contrast ratio with 10000000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. They are shipping early April. Just put my pre order in for the 46" at $2199.

The 50" 700u model. I just saw the specs for the 8 series that comes in april and the contrast is 30000:1 v. the current 5000:1. HUGE difference. That is mind boggling actually. I might have to return my lcd to bestbuy and use my old TV until the new ones come into the stores. Too bad Bestbuy doesnt have a longer return policy

do u watch sports... or a lot of dark movies? describe what u watch, the lighting issue... direct sun or not, overly bright, or not... etc. then compare how much that ghosting of the 120hz on most signals bothers you (yes im that picky) and if you like the exuberant brightness from an lcd screen at ALL times... yes... night time movie watching... itsa bit much. if you answer yes to the 1st to questions, and no to the rest... buy yourslef a plasma... not as eye catchy, pop out image.... but more subtle, accurate detail, movement and color.
