Default Ben-Hur and Citizen Kane coming in 2011

Fox announced that BEN HUR will be on blu ray... Was wondering if Ben-Hur 1933 and others will be packaged with 1963 version blu as well?

I think FOX should becasue they had BEN HUR with several discs collection.

Too bad Charlton Heston can't provide a commentary track.

The 1925 version is really incredible. Both the '25 and '59 versions are wonderful. But I think that the '25 version is more lavish because of the expanse and knowing the limited special effects at the time. That makes it all the more visually stunning knowing that everything is built to full scale!

I hope that they port over all of the extras from the most recent SDVD release and put both movies in 1080p.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. In fact, I'm looking more forward to Ben-Hur than LOA or any other catalog title that has been announced.

I'm sure both versions of Ben-Hur will look stunning on BD. Another classic epic I would love to see on BD is Lawrence of Arabia. I saw it on HDNet Movies recently and it looks phenominal — imagine how it would look on Blu-ray. Hopefully Sony gives it the BD treatment packed full of special features.

I agree here. The 1925 Ben Hur had 125,000 costumed actors and extras! Who does that now? Now they just use computers. The sets were amazing. For special effects, there were some very convincing glass shots, too. I wonder how they will hold up to close inspection on Blu-ray.

Well, it depends on who you ask...I mean LOTR was heralded to have used "everyone in New Zealand".

I believe there IS a Charlton Heston commentary from the older DVD, they'll probably port that over. But yeah, a shame he didn't live long enough to record one for the Blu release.

From what I can remember, the DVD commentary was a bit of a letdown. It only had inputted segments of Heston and the rest was done by a historian. It's still informative but it is a shame he couldn't have done the entire thing. I'd imagine it would port over to the blu. I'm expecting WB to give us everything that was on the 4 disk set and more!

I've been waiting for Ben-Hur to come on Blu-ray. I have the first DVD and wanted to get the 4-disc set mainly for the original silent film which was included but hesitated because there has been talk of a BD release since 2007.

It's from Warner Bros and the classic version that won 11 Oscars is from 1959 not 1963,and the silent is from 1925,not 1933.Though I have yet to see any cover art for this release,I'm pretty sure it will get the Ultimate Treatment similar to Casblanca,GWTW,and The Wizard Of Oz,It hopefully will contain all the great extras from the 2005 4-DVD set, which in DVD terms WAS an incredible set, including BOTH versions and a disc of supplimentals, the two versions looked damn good on DVD so the BLU RAY should look incredible, some new extras would be welcome as WELL as all the one ported from the 2005 release, some body said in an earlier rewiew that Heston commentary would be great, well as most people know he did a selected commentary on both the DVD versions so i'm sure that will ported on the new blu ray!,This IS one of the all-time greats and truly desrves the "royal blu treatment"!
