Yeah, the chemicals that greenpeace is whining about are found in many other common sources. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) we all know makes up plastic tubing and plastic coatings. Yes it can probably affect you, but like people have said already if your appetite consists of plastic then you're health is screwed. If this article bothers you about your health, just go wash your hands after you finish using your console or any other plastic for that matter.
The other chemicals that they listed were not actually chemicals, but natural elements found on the periodic table. Beryllium - used in the majority of circuits and alloyed with copper to make electrical contacts. Bromine - my guess would be that it is used as a flame retardant inside the console to keep it from catching fire or sparking.
Pthalates are the general name given to plastics derived from an acid called Pthalic acid - and these compounds are found in alot of other plastics than just game consoles. They make PVC elastic. Unless you're pregnant or an infant, you should be ok as long as you are doing what you should normally be doing, don't eat it, don't drink it, don't inject it, don't smoke it, and just wash your hands throughout the day (it's a good healthy practice).
