If Warner releases The Matrix for BD into what will be a huge second half of blockbusters for BD, that will all but wipe out whatever gains HD DVD got from temporary exclusivity, and provide an even more obvious contrast to the title issue.

Until I see it released, I am going to predict excuses from Warner for why The Matrix can't come out on Blu-ray.

Next up: LOTR to counteract Pirates 3, Spidey3, Fantasic 4 - Silver Surfer, Simpsons, etc.

The timing and exclusivity of the Matrix release is an obvious slap in the face to Blu-ray.

Warner has also been short-changing us in terms of audio in most of their BD releases, and their bit-starved HD DUD VC-1 ports on Blu-ray are also irritating me. I'm going to reward them by shifting most of my purchases toward Sony/Disney/Fox/MGM/Lionsgate for the next few months.

In terms of competition between the Matrix films vs. the Pirates films -- I predict that POTC 1 & 2 will run away with sales. Not just because the Blu-ray player base is bigger, but the Pirates films appeal to a much wider audience of people.

I personally like Matrix, but the 2 sequels were real stinkers.
