i think a game like GoW was more like 8-10hrs to get through it on the hardest level....first time through. you don't have to fill a game with crap. i know the cutscenes are telling intregral parts of the story but for the love of god. we do not need 50 minute cut scenes. i bought the video game to play video games...if i wanted to watch a movie i'd go watch a movie. i would call the cutscenes a form of padding or crap as you put it.....though necessary....still crap then.
Big Boss ranking playthrough, not completing the game for the first time on 'Big Boss Hard'.

see my lack of knowledge. i'm still working on beating the game, i only get a day here and there to play....and as i mentioned...i'm only on act 4. haven't started it either....fell asleep cuz the cutscene was too long and i was too tired. i just fell overwhelmed by the cutscenes and it feel to me, IMO, that the game feels short. maybe ACT 4 & ACT 5 longer, act 3 was way to quick.

if big boss ranking is beating under 5hrs....i will not on this one. i have hidden myself way from spoilers or hints and cheats. after i play through, i'll see what i missed and will understand the emblem thing.

Big boss hard takes forever to play lol i love it though, i love the gmae in general cnat say it enough. Playing on big boss puts thing in perspective, thats how a game should be, you should struggle through it and not just breeze to a game like this

It takes probably at LEAST five play throughs to get all of the emblems (if you really plan) as some directly conflict each other requiring another play through. Most I could group was 20 emblems in one play through (there are 40 total)... And, that was a 'chicken run' (the chicken emblem being the most obscene) so that game was well over 35 hours long to get that emblem (it requires 35 hours or more game time).

Many people seem to fail to realize the substantial amount of content in this game... seriously. You can take literally thousands of different approaches to EVERYTHING almost. You have the choice of stealth or rambo or anything in between. That alone allows you to play the game COMPLETELY differently on subsequent play throughs. My Boss emblem run was nothing at all like my previous runs, I'll tell you that! I did the game with 0 kills, 0 alerts, 0 continues and under 5 hours on Solid normal and my boss emblem was still NOTHING like that play through. Big difference when your ammo is limited.

Want a challenge? Try beating the game with only the stun knife with zero kills... possible? Yes, believe it or not. Easy? Hell no.

I started with Big Boss Hard and am now at the point where I'm fighting Laughing Octopus. It only took one try to beat her the first playthrough, now, she's not so easy.

She actually killed me the first time I fought her in my BBE run, I die on the box when I tried to avoid her roll of death when she roll around like a ball, I guess she must caught my big toe or something...

I never fight her while hiding under the bed. Does it work? I've done that against those FROGS before her though.

If you are not going for the figurine by completing the first form non-lethal, you could try using the M82A2 50-caliber anti-material rifle. It packs a nice little punch and helps take down things quickly. If you look at the description, it is a weapon recommended by Hideo Kojima.

more or less. you have to come out of hiding to look for her when she's doing the hiding thing, but once you've shot her once or twice and she starts moving, you can crawl back under the bed... she'll pop out near you. the bed also seems to have the nice benefit of shielding you somewhat from her gunfire and her little homing bombs.

of course, i dunno if this works in big boss and harder.

By the way, if you dont have it, it cost 100,000 points from Drebin I believe. It could be 1,000,000. I can not remember, but it would be worth it to wait until Act 5 to get half price deals. Plus Wednesdays and Sundays are 20% off. You could change the time on your PS3 to accomplish the 20% off deal.

It is almost as powerful as a fully charged Rail Gun, holds 10 rounds and is the best sniper rifle since it is so powerful. You could probably down a BB in first form with 3-4 well placed shots.

Edit: It is also a nice rifle to use near the end of Act 4 durring the Vamp/Raiden fight for the Gekkos. No charging like the Rail Gun really helps it shine.

Yeah those little homing bombs are scary, I was hoping they will destroy those FROGS I knocked out earlier, so when she disguise as one of them FROGS i know exactly which one is her.

Each of my four play throughs, she is in the same spot as a Frog. You just gotta remember which room she is in when she does that. Just dont kill any Frogs in that room.

Can anyone tell me if I go after Screaming Octopussy...I'm going for zero kills. If I hit her with anything besides a tranq...does that count as a kill. Didn't know if I could smack her with an rpg and then finish her with v-rings? Not sure how it works but she takes forever with just v-rings.

It only matters in her second form, after she is out of her armor. Use what ever weapon you like while she is in her armor. This goes for all the BBs. Tranq them in their human form. Make sure you dont kill the frogs around all of them. The drones around Raven can be destroyed because they are unmanned.

Remember too, the Frogs you tranq for the Screaming Mantis fight are still alive when she takes control of them, so dont kill them then. Take out the Phycho Mantis Doll first and she cannot control anything that is still alive, including Meryl. The Sorrow doll can control anything you killed. So if you tranq everything before that fight, she cannot control anything with the Sorrow Doll, only the Mantis one.

Note: After the cut scene you will have your Operator equiped. Don't forget to switch over to your non-lethal Tranq gun.
