Trophies

I don't understand why some of you are *****in about CoD4 not getting rumble or trophies.. would be nice, but makes complete sense to me... the game is old, Infinity Ward got the boot from the next installment (stupid move), why would they waste time and money making updates that are free to add to an already complete game?? Not to mention Activision is coming out with 5 soon enough... Like I said as a fan of the game it would be nice, but makes no business sense..

Saying day or two shows you know nothing whatsoever about software creation, learning curve, testing, qual, Sony approval, etc.

I don't blame companies in the slightest for not going back to add features in retrospect.

Retroactive would be a necessity for sure. I know some of the Warhawk ones are planned to be retroactive, so if they ever did Folding at Home ones, I'm sure they'd all be retroactive. Afterall, there isn't a way to cheat and just use someone else's saved game for Folding at Home

I completely disagree. Not only has Sony already said it wouldnt take more then a day or two to write the code and create a patch for this but ANY cross platform game already has achievements for the 360 which is HALF of the work (coming up with them, assigning values, etc), and could simply be converted to the PS3. INCLUDING COD4.

When a "little" game like SSHD or PJM can add rumble support and trophies but a big game dev cant "find time" thats a complete cop-out. They are either just lazy, dont care to support the PS3, or both.

I can understand your frustrated but SSHD and COD 4 aren't the same type of companies or games. COD 4 to produce and SSHD are two different types of beast. SSHD has more than enough time to patch their games. I'm not saying COD4 doesn't have the time but they are obviously concentrating on their next gen title and it's the same for insomniac. They want to use ever available man power for their next game and don't want to lose any time or have just a couple people do it and do it half ass. If you want to be pissed at someone, be pissed at Sony for not having this at launch.

Do i think the companies could do it for their games? Absolutely. Do i think they absolutely SHOULD RIGHT NOW? No... I'd rather they focus on their next games right now and patch if necessary in the future.

Sorry but I HARDLY DOUBT that spending a day or two or even a week will throw off a production schedule by that much that it is noticeable.

On top of that what about the devs that HAVE said they will release a patch such as Warhawk, Uncharted etc.... so they dont have other games they are working on? No, they just CARE to support the customers that buy their products.

you are mistaken. I work in the industry and i can assure you , every day , every hour is necessary to accomplish goals setout. Every game company has target goals and must do everything to accomplish them. Delays cost a lot of money to companies. Uncharted 2 we have heard nothing about and same for Warhawk 2 . The same can't be said for COD5 or Resistance 2. I know it might seem completely ludicrous to you, it's just 1 day or 2 ( it would take more than a day or 2 )

So just because theres no sequel announced means those devs are sitting on their butts twiddling their thumbs? Come on now.

And lets see here... take a day or two to create a patch that would appease a LARGE amount of your customer base (in Insomniacs case ALL for those titles)..and maybe push your schedule back by a WEEK at most for future games (oh and by the way COD4 is NOT made by the same people as COD5 so what is their excuse?)......seems like the smart move to me.

i can see your frustrated but i'm not sure your reading what i'm saying. I never said they are not sitting on their butts , but it's not announced , hence the public isn't waiting for it as much and they are probably still in the early stages of development with a very vague timeline. It would take the team MORE Than a few days like i told you and you are asking them to drop everything they are doing and go back to the older game and patch it up . The team has moved on and are concentrating on the next game. Trophies are cool, i love them, they are a great idea but they bring NOTHING substantial that needs to be fixed ASAP. Don't forget that this industry, like all the others, are in for the money FIRST. If the game was broken or something that's a different story. But your talking about "icing on the cake". Once again, look to Sony for blame as it should have been included at the time with the game.

Gamers have become spoiled and are getting too use to it.... Gone are the days when you play a game, finish a game and are happy about it... Be happy with the product you bought, everything else is just a bonus.

i guess i'm too young to remember those days. (24) LOL. Ever since i was 12 i remember paying 40-50 bucks for PC games. I've always wished i could have the money i have now and have everything else priced down to how it was like, 100 years ago. You could pay like 100 bucks for a brand new HDTV

ok, i have a question. How do I get trophies? I downloaded SSHD (and the add on) and got through the first level in arcade. Nothing came up though and I have no trophy in my collection. I also did the survival mode and lasted 45 seconds without shooting or bombs. (even without the turbo boost) I'm signed in to the network.. what am I doing wrong?

you have version 2.4 firmware, right? If not , it's rather strange. Under game you should have trophy collection and in there Super stardust. I've heard people say they didn't receive the trophy pop up but if they looked in their list it was actually unlocked

Even if he has 2.4 if you JUST downloaded SSHD then you dont have the 4.0 patch from them that includes trophies. They pulled it when 2.4 was pulled.

So youll have to wait until it all goes back up.

If you already have both 2.4 and the 4.0 patches running fine I dont think you will need to download anything.

I find it weird that companies are announcing they are not bringing trophies. I would think just adding trophies to your game would increase sales for it. More people would buy it to collect trophies.
