I considered picking this up, but I had no idea Best Buy would have it for $37.99. Talk about sticker shock. I'll wait for a sale.

Did you physically see it there? My dad just stopped up there and they told him it wasn't coming out till the 23rd after I had called a lady there checked and said they had 2 copies.

You can price match it like I did. Amazon has it for $32 I believe, as does Walmart. Warner's usual day one UHD price is $30, so it's only $2 more.

You lucked out Velvet. The best buy near me has 2 copies but they won't sell them until the 23rd. You must be one of the only people who was able to get a copy

I feel like it was delayed a week at the last minute for some reason, I dunno. I got there at like 10:30 so maybe the instruction to withdraw it from sale for a week came after that.

I was able to get my copy tonight at Best Buy as well.
Although, I might end up returning it if WM has it considerably cheaper come next week.

I didn't bother since Amazon doesn't have it in stock and the Wal-Mart listing was from a third party seller when I checked - BB isn't supposed to PM under those conditions, even though I'm sure some will. My BB had one copy that was even out in the new release section, shockingly.

Hometheaterforum's review said the 4K UHD ain't that much better than the 4K blu-ray. He even goes on to say that the blu-ray looks so good that Warner Bros. shouldn't have even bothered putting out a 4K UHD of UNFORGIVEN. Just another reason why I'm not upgrading to 4K UHD.

Blame Clint. Not me.

There's no need to defend the quality of the film to me in spite of this. The film is much bigger and better than this aspect.

Ask yourself though, if little Bill's prohibition of possession of firearms was not part of the film, and he was simply a sadistic Sheriff who despised amateurs, bounty-hunters etc, what difference would it make to the film?

Yeah Best Buy needs to get it together. I found the 2 copies they were telling me I couldn't get till the 23rd and I ended up being able to buy one. It was pricey.

Im not sure if the phrase 4th time's a charm exists but if not I'm coining it. I really enjoyed it this viewing. I still found it a little slow but its still really good. The blu ray looks outstanding. I have my brother's copy of the previous release at home that I was going to watch to decide if I wanted to buy this one so I'll compare the transfers in the morning but something tells me this one wins without a doubt. I'm also not a big slipcover guy but this one has a great one that I am keeping.

I can't imagine the UHD looking much better than the blu ray.

He's wrong, and a big reason he's wrong is he's using a projector which doesn't really handle HDR correctly. Also even if Unforgiven was somehow worse than the BD that doesn't mean all the other UHDs are too. As someone who owns 50 of them I can tell you that most movies, on the right display, are dramatically improved.

But tell yourself whatever you have to I guess.

It hasn't been delayed in Canada. Amazon.ca has 10 copies. Last night they only has 1.

Warner's 4K remasters have been so great that I really wish they would've been the ones that remastered Heat instead of Fox (which I'm pretty sure is the company that "remastered" Heat).

Just did a comparison between the previous release and the new one and it's no contest that the new one wins. The previous release is plagued with what looks to be EE and bad compression. The new one is cleaned up, gorgeously detailed and filmic.

There are people on these forums who live to see UHD die. Not gonna bother speculating on the reasons. Just gotta accept it and move on. No point talking to a wall.
