Hopefully this means the remakes are releasing later this year, or sometime in 2026. Only time shall tell.

I don't know about the PS5 version, but the Switch release appears to be complete on cart. I'd assume this will be the same for PS5. I've heard the Switch version has some framerate issues, but maybe its better on PS5? Sorry, not the best answer, but probably a positive indicator if you were interested in it.

Hopefully but I wouldn't put much, if any, stock in what Play-Asia puts up for preorder. I like Play-Asia, but they put some wild, out of left field stuff up sometimes.

Awesome thank you. I’m going to see if a local shop has it when I’m out tomorrow.

Don't know yet for sure, but Sony does have a good track record so far. At this point, I'm not personally worried.

Can’t wait for Gal Guardians. It’s a full on metroidvania this time around.

Given Death Stranding got a Director's Cut re-release, if I am somehow compelled to buy Death Stranding 2, I will wait for such a re-release.

Thanks for keeping track of physical games! I'll probably buy Death Stranding 2 on disc, anything else would be digital.

I’m seeing a Japan PS5 region release from Play Asia too. I know they tend to jump the gun, but they are listing it as English language included.

PS5/Switch physicals are up for preorder on amazon.jp as well, no indication if the JP Switch release is a card or a code though.

You're good. The official Sega JP site lists English and Japanese audio and text/interface in Japanese, English, Chinese x2, Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain & Latin), Portuguese and Russian.

I wasn’t sure where to discuss this so I’ll just put it here.

Has anyone else noticed how warm discs can get in the PS5’s drive after extended gameplay? This cant be great for longevity.

Industria installs as version 2.0 and there is no update.

I have not. However, I probably don't usually the the disc out right after playing. it usually comes out when I have the next disc base game to put in, which is usually on a new day. I'm not sure how much that affects longevity. The pits and bumps will definitely elongate and shrink with the temperature but if it's within a tolerance it might have negligible effect.

I haven't personally noticed that either. But like email said above, I'm not usually taking a disc out right away unless its a movie (which I haven't noticed being warm). Is your whole PS5 running hot? What kind've space is your PS5 living in?

My PS5 is the fat 2nd revision GoW bundle. It’s sitting in a FJÄLLBO on the left with the exhaust vented out through the back and mesh side. I’m sure it’s common and one of those things no one realizes. I can’t remember which game I was playing.

I keep it clean with an electric duster and a break down and clean every 6 months or so. Maybe I can stress test it to see if the fan is going out or something. Any demo recommendations? I usually play older or arcade style games; nothing that would task the system really.

I have this urge to get technical and break out a temperature sensor now haha!

I had no idea what a FJÄLLBO was until you mentioned it but it does look like it'd have plenty of ventilation. Your cleaning schedule is also about the same as mine. I'll see if I can do some gaming today and see what happens. My main PS5 is from the Horizon Forbidden West bundle, which came out mid-2022. I'm assuming thats also second revision, but I'm not 100%. I'll try and get some gaming in to test this myself today.

Edit: I played about 2 hours of Watch Dogs 2 and immediately took the disc out. It was a little warm, but no where near hot or anything worrying. Just for comparison though, my console sits out on top of my entertainment center with nothing super close to the vents. I also blast the AC in my apartment constantly, so that probably also helps.

Ok, I did some testing in last night.

Ambient room temperature was 80°f when I started.
The surface temperature of the disc matched this.

Played Saints Row 2022 for two hours on the 1440p performance setting, running around the new posh DLC neighborhood, blowing things up, and completing a mission. The game is already horribly unoptimized and it has several graphics settings to stress the PS5. I quit the game after the mission end cutscene and took some readings.

My hygrometer/temp combo meter (it’s for plants) about 1 ft from the exhaust of the PS5 read 84°f.

Disc surface temperature was 100°f. That’s a pretty significant change. I wouldn’t say the disc was hot to the touch, but it was noticeably warmer.

I live on a high floor in one of the least air conditioned cities in the US so climate control is kind of limited. I will try testing again when the ambient temperature is lower.
