maybe it's just me, but I've never been put off by gore. I find, especially in a movie called The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that gore should be expected (although the element that made the original so great is it's incredible lack of gore). But none the less, there are 2 ways you can take a horror film with gore, either really more on the imagination and show little gore or only where appropriate, or hold nothing back and show the gory and gruesome details with in-your face carnage. I enjoy both, of course it all depends on the film. I thought in that film it worked well.

I felt though the movie was really mean spirited and utterly nihilistic - which is sort of the point of the TCM films, but still, the film really pushed the extremities - I guess we weren't really prepared for how violent this really was, personally I don't mind the gore, but when the other person who's watching it with me isn't enjoying it, I feel like it's my fault for subjecting it to him. (and to my knowledge my friend never got around to seeing the full unrated cut of the film which went even further in the gore department)

Actually, my Gruesome edition DVD states it was 101 minutes after taking a look at ti. Still, if IMDB is to be believed, there is another 10 minutes or so of footage cut from the DVD release.

I've seen this on the big screen a few times recently (35 mm prints), and it never looked good. As long as the transfer is faithful to the film, I'm happy. I'm not expecting this to look too clean.

Hell yes! This is one I've been hoping for for awhile. I'm not really sure if it's a good movie or how much I even like it, but there's no denying the utter weirdness of it. It completely sidestepped my expectations and it was never boring. It's not one to be overlooked.

Oh, and it comes out on my birthday. How convenient.

Default Another great announcement!

TCM2 along with The Funhouse, Jeepers Creepers, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Night of the Living Dead (1990), Pet Sematary, They Live, and The Walking Dead S2 the next few mouths will be beyond awesome

... but not so awesome once my pockets are lighter

With this added to a Bluray release, along with Halloween (2,3,4,5), Night of the Living Dead (1990), Terror Train, The Funhouse, They Live, Reanimator, Killer Clowns from Outer Space, Walking Dead s2, & JAWS (just to name a few of many more to come), I feel like I need a second job just to buy movies....

Need to start writing up a Christmas/holiday list quick

Agreed on the 1st 2,I always enjoyed all the TCM movies, however I try to ignore that 3rd title, just never want to watch that turd again or pay for or waste a wish-list gift on it.
I just hope the Gruesome Edition DVD extras are included on this. Just a transfer that isn't artificially enhanced in anyway, and all those extras and I'll be a happy camper.

They should release a TCM boxset. I already have the 2003 remake on Blu-ray.

Well I doubt MGM would allow TCM 2 to be included in a Box Set,and Warner isn't very big on releasing Horror Franchise Sequels lately. They still haven't released or even announced the remaining NOES sequels(4-7),they released the More Popular TCM Remake, but not the Remake's Prequel nor Leatherface:TCM 3,however they have started releasing several catalogs in 1 swoop, but I still don't see a box set happening. But Warner owns them all except for TCM 2(MGM) and the worst of them all-TCM:TNG(think Sony owns this) but there wasn't a Blade Box Set so I would be very surprised to ever see a TCM Box Set,but not shocked-because hardly anything shocks me anymore, but I'd be surprised.

Love me some TCM2, so this'll be a day one purchase.

Too bad they're still going with that ugly 'Gruesome Edition' cover instead of the classic "Breakfast Club" spoof. Ah, well, if that's the worst thing about this release, I'll live.

Do Warner now own the rights for the first original TCM?
If they do, and release it, why couldn't they release TCM 3 in the same wave, can't wait for that one, the last one missing from the series (from the ones I care of). I'm happy with the Canadian BD of Beginning.

Yeah, I can account for that. I bought it at a FYE and it has no features. But the Canadian version of the remake has the features ported over from the two disc set.
