I love my Panny BD30. No complaints whatsoever. Excellent PQ. I am interested only in PQ of BD60 as I use my HDMI receiver to decode the losless audio signals. Is anyone seeing day and night difference in PQ of BD60when compared to BD30????

Somewhere on one of these internet forums for Blu Ray, there must be a comparison for PQ between those to players. A hunting I will go! ![]() |

I had the panasonic 30 and now I have the 60. I can tell the difference. its indeed like night and day and I would highly recommend.
I suppose if you have any question you can ask. I am using onkyo 605 and bitstreaming from the player to the receiver. Jacob |

I have the 60 for my upstairs bedroom, and I find it's a fairly minimalistic player, both in available features and looks. It plays discs well, though, and that was the goal for me. I don't intend on having a flashy setup up there, so this player works well in that sense.
One kind of cool thing about it is its ability to do the Viera Cast thing, with YouTube, weather updates (for many areas if you choose), and the Amazon movie rental thing. I can see Panasonic fleshing out the Viera Cast system, thereby making the 60 a much more comprehensive player, and especially at its price — I paid about $230 shipped for mine. Not bad for a BD-Live player right out of the box. I'd rank it below my Sony BDP-S550 (in my main home theater), but not by too much. |

Well I'm not sure I agree with that statement, I'm definitely impressed but not so much so with BD over the performance of the BD30. It is better but not drastic though I admit I really just started and threw in discs to see how I felt. BUT here's the thing. It kills the BD30 for upscaling of SD DVDs. There I will agree with you for what I've tried. It will be an easier wait for Gladiator, Jurassic Park, LOTR, Alien, and Braveheart if I decide to keep it. I also own the Onkyo SR605. I really don't see a big improvement with the audio however with the BD60. |

I luv my BD30, and until there are some drastic improvements in the actual PQ in playing an actual blu, I'll be keeping it. I do not think I have ever watched an entire DVD on my BD30, so it looks like the BD60 doesn't offer me much to upgrade....guess I'm just a blu-ray snob now?

I tried playing Pearl Harbor earlier today and I feel I did get a somewhat bigger wow factor on the PQ than the BD30. I don't think folks dying to get the Oppo would agree that Blu Ray should look the same no matter what player! ![]() |

I have the BD30, which I paid $550 for (on sale) back in the day....the BD60 is still the victim of overinflated pricing here in Canada -- $450!....although it was recently on sale @ BestBuy for $400. The new Pioneer BDP120 has just been added to the BestBuy site at the competitive price of $399.99 (MSRP)....I'm waiting for reviews on it to see how it stacks up against the BD60.

Its overall feature set is better, it definitely looks better aesthetically (IMO of course), and has a much better user interface. It's hard for me to say which player has better PQ and AQ, though, because my Panny is hooked up directly to my television, while my Sony is going through a receiver that also has 5.1 surround speakers, AND the televisions are different. Load times are comparable with both units, although I haven't tried my new T2 Skynet Blu on the Panny yet.
That said, I've had pretty much no problems with the Panny other than the initial setup and connecting to my network. I have kind of an elaborate network, though, so it may have had something to do with that. I've got a router and two switches in my network before the Panny. I had to manually set the DNS, but after that it's been smooth sailing. By comparison, however, the Sony never had ANY issues at all. So in that sense I'd also give the nod to it. Then again, it is a higher-end player that cost quite a bit more. |
