Star Trek Coming Out THIS Friday in Japan :D

Yeah yeah... Ya'll over in the states have seen it ages ago but I'm finally going to get to watch it this Friday with a few friends. Can't freaking wait!!! It upsets me sometimes that it takes forever for movies to come out over here in J-Town. Oh well, nobody spoil it for me but, did you guys think it was good?

I watched this movie last night, it was absolutely hugely entertaining from start to finish! loved it, it makes me open my eyes more to the star trek genre, i could ALMOST go as far to say it was better than any of the star WARS films i seen...as in the new ones.

Just saw it yesterday afternoon. I have been a Trekker since I was 6 years old. In the 70's Star Trek was captain Kirk & Spock there was nothing else, I grew up with them.

I was suprise by this movie, there is not one dull slow moment. It's a fun movie. Is it Star Trek? No not really! It's good but it lost some of the essence of what Star Trek is suppose to be. If you accept the reason given in the story (I won't mention what it is here) well you can sort of accept it as a "different" Star Trek. The actors who truly nail the roles IMO where those playing Spock, McCoy & Scott. It's actualy a bit scary as you sometimes wonder if the ghost of Deforest Kelley & James Doohan are on set.

It's a different Star Trek, a little bit of Star Trek mix with Star Wars if you like. Still one very good movie, fun from star to finish and I cannot wait to have that on BD and add it at the end of my Star Trek collection.

I guess the saying that "it's not your father's Star Trek" is true, but IMO it's a great movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

i enjoyed it to,some people didn't.keep an open mind it is a little different then the trek we knew,but its still good.

btw i don't know what hard core trek fans thought this movie was gonna be.
if it was to be like the other movies,it would have bombed.in its time the other movies were good,but this new one did something the other movies didn't.it smashed the box office. it also brought in a new fan base.

in all fairness a lot of old hard core trek fans enjoyed this film,don't let a few that didn't, spoil anything.some old trek fan are stuck in a time warp and want the trek that was.i heard a interview with nimoy on the radio a day after it opened here,and he said that in talking to roddenberry years ago,gene hoped in the future somebody else would handle startrek and do something different with it.even roddenberry knew trek as it was wouldn't last forever.btw nimoy didn't have to be in this new film,he did it cause he like it,he doesn't need the money.sometimes the people that make these film know better then the fans

Sound's like you have an agenda. Sounds like you have a problem with fans of Trek that liked the movie, but to each his own. Right?

It's a great movie. See it and let us know for yourself. The movie is an amazing 95% positive reviews with an average rating of 8.1 out of 10. that puts this movie in the Star Wars, Indiana Jones classics type of positive reviews. But that doesn't matter either. Let us know what YOU guys living in Japan think of it when you see it.

I'm a trekkie and I don't really consider this a Star Trek movie. They could have named it something else and it would still have gotten good reviews.

I have to agree with Blu-mike. This is one of the best Sci-fi movies ever in my opinion and that includes the original Star Wars trilogy before Lucas pissed all over them. If Star Trek had been like this back in those days I would have grown up a Trekkie instead of playing with Star Wars toys. I understand why you would be skeptical and that's a good thing because when you do see it you will enjoy it even more. I know that's why I did.

It's Star Trek no doubt. Things change ok? You are not a bigger Trek fan than me, and you make very little sense. You mention "senseless"? Dude as much as I love Star Trek, 99% of it IS senseless (but fun).If I were to go through the original series and the orginal six movies, I could point to hundreds of inaccuracies. And, as far as the "mindless effects", the "Trouble with Tribbles" had great effects, eh?

It's just a movie. Some liked it, some didn't.

I thoroughly enjoyed it - and I've thoroughly enjoyed some old/new generation trek.

There was no way this movie was going to please EVERYONE, however, it did please many, critics, audiences, etc. It's been a long time since I left a theater where people clapped, and were already talking about how much they liked it as they were exiting the theater. I DEFINITELY did not experience that when I saw Wolverine or T4. I've seen Star Trek twice, and both times, the audience loved it.

Love it or hate it, I think it has generally been "accepted" as the "new" Trek.

Of course, everyone is still entitled to liking it or disliking it on they're own level. If anyone has an agenda on either side, it really doesn't matter at this point. The movie is out - and we'll be getting a sequel. The end.
