Default Star Trek: The later films

Does anyone else want the more recent Star Trek films to be released on blu ray

The originals are great,
but First Contact and insurrection are fantastic films

THanks

It would not surprise me to see it out around Christmas time.

Hopefully we'll see the 4 next gen films, the 2009 film, and TOS seasons 2-3 by the end of the year. I'm now spoiled for Trek on Blu.

I dunno if I will buy the TNG movies. They just don't have the fun of the originals. I do like First Contact but I already own that on DVD.

I might want to rent Nemisis as I only saw it once and boy did it suck... is it really that bad? lol

Personally, I thought it was great, but I definitely appear to be in the minority on that one. I thought it was the second best of the TNG films (First Contact smokes it by a mile though). As far as the series as a whole goes, it's certainly better than part 5 and arguably part 1. Anyway, if you didn't enjoy it the first time, then renting is your best bet before purchasing.

I saw it in theaters, and then I watched it the other night...I really liked it in theaters oddly enough, but apparently it did not hold up well in my eyes cause it was entertaining, but not up to par with the other next generation movies when I watched it again.

Of course...if it's part of a set of the next generation movies, I won't hesitate in purchasing them.

I always thought Nemesis was great. I personally compare Isurrection to be the Star Trek V of the Next Gen films...Yuck!

Question

I only have 2-4 on blu-ray, hoping to get 1 and 5-10 at a later date. Doubt I will ever get 11 or the others.

Insurrection was pretty bad, but Nemesis is slightly better.

Love the Sovereign Enterprise so it's cool to see it firing all those weapons searching for the Scimitar. Would have been a much better scene to have that Starfleet battlegroup show up and get roasted by the Scimitar.

I want all 4 TNG movies on blu. I like them all, for various reasons.
I have watched Insurrection so many times. Sure it is not as flashy as the other films, more of an extended episode. Plus the villain in Insurrection is really good.

Yeah, that's the thing about Insurrection. It's not a bad film by any means, but it lacks that certain extra something that the movies should have. It does indeed feel like a long episode of the TV series. It didn't feel like an epic tale worthy of the big screen, especially when there were so many Star Trek shows on the air. But still, it was a decent watch, IMO.

First Contact and Generations are by far the best of the TNG films, IMHO. FC is probably my favorite sci-fi movie ever, I've seen it at least 30 times by now.

The shot in Generations where the Nexus ribbon approaches the planet and the Malcolm McDowell character is raising his hands in the air is one that I still remember to this day, it looks very beautiful!

Unfortunately, while I would normally rush out to buy all of the TNG films (Nemesis is flawed but still interesting at times), I will wait for reviews to see if they are DNR'd. Maybe we will get lucky and see beautiful prints and 7.1 TrueHD tracks!

I liked Generations because I wanted to hate it. I thought Kirk's demise was pathetic. It was too slow in the middle. I do admit a few good scenes in it so owning it on Blu isn't too bad.

You're so right. Also, First Contact was a tough act to follow, even though both films are directed by Frakes. Many people that were not Trekkies, really got into First Contact. It had a huge cross-over audience and by the time Insurrection came along, seemed like a huge let down.
Not for me though. I also do believe I fell in love with the lead female, Donna Murphy.
