Default Pioneer Kuro descision: 50" vs 60"

OK... I know this is kind of a silly question but here it goes anyways.
I am thinking about buying a Kuro. I have been TV browsing for a bit now, and I had settled on the 54" V10, but I have recently found a decent price on a kuro. However, the Kuro is the 50" model. The 60" model is also available, but it will run me an extra $1900. I am torn... I want the 60" but I dont know if it is worth the extra cash (I could get another TV for that much!!). I would be sitting about 9-10 feet away from the TV.
Please help me make a decision based on viewing distance/value and any possible technical specs of the TV that I am considering.
101FD vs. 141FD

Excluding the size difference, the 101 has the better panel. From what I've read, it includes some of Pioneers unreleased 10g tech (mainly deeper blacks). But I've also read that it is nearly impossible to tell them apart with the naked eye.
Also, keep in mind the 101 and 141 are only monitors, and do not feature speakers or tuners.

I went with the 50" but to be honest the 60" is what I would want... size matters when it comes to TV.

I have heard the 50" have better blacks but I am not sure... never had one side by side

According to the chart below you might want to get the 60. I do have a 141 and the picture is amazing. I am getting a KRP 500M with in the next two weeks so I will be able to compare. But I hardly doubt the difference in levels would make me switch the 141 to the bedroom and have the 500M in the main HT. The ten inches will definitely out weight any upgrade the 500m has. The reason I am mentioning the 500M, is the 101 shares the same panel.

Now with out a doubt if I couldn't get a 60 I would get the 101. It's an amazing set. To me between the two it's only size as far as PQ. Now budget is a different story. You have to figure out your own opportunity cost. Everyone's is different.

Would I trade my 141 or my 500m for anything in their class!! A big NO!!!! Either one you choose you will enjoy to the fullest with no regrets.

Been there done that. I used to have a 50" with 9-10' viewing distance and seriously after a week's worth of watching the TV looked small. Go for the 60" if you can afford it.

Darn. Now I wish I went with the 60. LOL

My room isn't big enough though... so I should be ok... I will just move the screen closer to the couch... that outta do it for me.

6' should be good.

It's amazing how fast you get used to the screen no matter how large it is.
I can't imagine less than my 60"er.
I would go bigger if there was a bigger Kuro.

Get the right size depending on the viewing distance. I don't know why most people will obsess over the slightest audio detail but give no thought at all to the ideal screen size for viewing distance. Sigh.

Im going with the pro-101 ... the extra $2000 is just too much for me at this time. Just had the equal payments plan approved, so it looks like I am the proud new owner of a Pioneer Kuro!!

I agree. For the extra 10' $2000 is way too much. I have the 101 and I tell ya bro you will be more then happy. I just brought it home without telling the wife, and she complained only for a day. She saw the difference from my old LG.

Congrats and welcome to the club. I have a 50" 111fd. I love my set and would not trade it for anything.

I chose the 50" model for two reasons. First, the room where my main set-up is would not really accomodate a 60" screen. Well, maybe, but I did not want to push it. The second reason was the price difference. I paid $4,000 including tax for my set. If I had gone with the 151fd, I think it would have cost me about $1,000 more.

Either way, any Kuro Elite set looks amazing. Enjoy the 49ers on the new toy.

Thanks guys... Im glad to be a new member
I am really looking forward to getting this baby home, but unfortunetly I wont be getting it until NEXT Friday since I dont have my own vehicle and that is the soonist a friend can go with me (but just in time for football season!!).
Couple of questions:
1. When I am transporting it home in a car, It will have to be laying flat... I remember hearing something about this not being ideal for transporting flat panel TVs, but this will be my only option unless I would rent a van for $200 since it is a 1.5hr drive. What can I do to make sure that the TV will be ok during transportation?
2. I will obviously be breaking the TV in. I am assuming that it will be fine to watch prior to completing the break in, but the PQ may not be at top notch levels. Is this correct?
3. If someone has the AVS link to the break-in disc download handy, could they please provide it.
Thanks

I don't think you have to worry about damaging the plasma image with laying it down flat but what you do have to worry about is the screen cracking while you do it that way.
