Which studio do you think stands above the rest as the very best? The studio that puts out excellent transfer after excellent transfer and rarely does a bad one. I will have to go with Disney, greatfoxmusic said Sony. What do the rest of you think?

Disney, Paramount and Universal stand out for me, Fox is not far behind but I still find there BD's to be a little to expensive.
Oh yeah, I have noticed as of late that True HD is going by the way side. Last edited by Canada; 10-22-2009 at 06:15 PM. |

Yes, I just passed my 2-year blu-niversary back in Oct 4 - I'd have to say Disney, then Sony. I have nothing against any company. Universal and Paramount have made up for their supposed "treachery" (not my words, I would've used 'business decision') - Warner still deserves kudos for plenty of great titles. I love Fox to death for putting out top-tier audiovisual movies.

I think Criterion has done the most impressive job, overall. I really look forward to all their releases, and hope they'll release more classic films next year, maybe The Red Shoes and Lola Montes, if they can get the rights.
So far, I've not been disappointed by any of Warner Home Video's classic releases on blu-ray - Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, Gigi, Adventures of Robin Hood and Blade Runner have all been great, imho. Really look forward to North by Northwest and Gone with the Wind. I'm generally skeptical about Disney in general because of the way they've censored their own movies due to PC nonsense, at least for DVD release. So I'm just hoping they avoid making those mistakes when it comes to their blu-ray releases. And also, that they will eventually have the guts to release Song of the South - on DVD but preferably DVD & BD. With most of the other studios, I'm a fence-sitter at the moment. Hope Universal will do a really good job with the Back to the Future trilogy, same with Paramount and the Indiana Jones movies, and as for Columbia, I just hope they'll do a really good job with Lawrence of Arabia. ![]() With the other studios, well, it's really to bad they've DNR'd some titles to death, and this is especially true of MGM and Fox. I've heard such awful things about some of their titles, that I just hope they'll have the decency to remaster and re-issue them in a not-too-distant future. ![]() |
