Default I did a bad thing...

Let me give a little background. My fiance loves music. She has a fair collection of CD's and MP3s. Though she's not an audiophile. She just loves listening to music.

Well, I ruined it for her.

A while back someone complained about the use of dynamic compression in modern CDs and radio broadcasts to make everything "louder". So I played her an example of pure audio without dynamic compression and an example of dynamic compression meant to maximize the volume of all the instruments. She quickly noticed the difference.

Well not to be outdone I then got one of her favorite CD's in hybrid SACD and played it for her. She noted the richness and responsiveness of the sound.

Now whenever she listens to music she finds herself not as content as before because she knows what she's missing. So yea...I ruined music for her.

What was that hybrid SACD? Yes, the mind boggles.

3 Doors Down- Away From the Sun

And from what I hear, it's not even the absolute best in terms of SACD ability. She just has the regular CD and has listened to the entire CD several times. So any difference betwen the SACD and CD stood out greatly to her ears.

I've done that by sitting people in my prefered sitting distance on a theater when the movie is perfectly focused. After that, seeing movies in out of focus screens forcing them into the back rows is not the same. Once you go front you can never go back.

I want some SACDs so bad! I can't find anywhere that carries them around me. I went to Best Buy and asked if they had any, and the employee stared at me with a blank look on his face for about 2 minutes and said "Umm...what's that."

Aaron, I can be your "friend" and introduce you to SACDs via YourMusic.com. Unless of course you already have that account. .

I just wanna get a free SACD out of introducing people to SACDs! Send me a PM with your e-mail if you're interested.

Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Borders, and other strays like that have some, otherwise otherwise I use:
